I was wondering if anyone could recommend BT Yeshivas in Israel that would help me with serious study that would be geared towards eventual Smicha?

If there is any additional information that would help you assist me with recommendations, dont hesitate to ask.

Thank you for all your help in advance.

For BT’s I would start at Aish Ha Torah…

They are perfect for BT’s and have advance learning for Smicha too…look them up

do you feel more closely aligned with modern orthodox or with Charaidim?

How long are you thinking of remaining in yeshiva?

Why do you want smicha? What do you see yourself doing with it?

    #1087565

To be completely honest, I attended a prominent M.O day school from the ages of 4 – 13. In spite of that i feel more aligned to Charaidim.

    #1087566

    its spelled ohr somayach

    http://ohr.edu/

    aish ha Torah

    http://www.aish.com/

i agree one of these two is your best choice

which one depends on the question i asked above

    #1087567

in that case i feel VERY strongly that Ohr Somayach would be a better match.

although Aish is a fine place

80: Aish is more to the MO hashkafa than Ohr?

    #1087569

I am making an committment to attend atleast for one full year and then address the situation from there. I wanted to recieve Smicha so I could help my community and help adolescents and yound adult Yidden foster a relationship with H’

Aish is more geared for guys wanting to go into kiruv. Ohr Somayach used to be geared more towards mainlining into regular yeshivos like Mir, etc. I’m not sure if they have their own smicha program, but I’m sure they can help figure out what would be appropriate when the time comes. Hatzlacha.

    #1087571

I already applied to a Yeshiva in Yerushalayim but im not sure if its right for me.

    #1087572

they are both very much geared to kiruv

    #1087573

I think Ohr Somayach would be the best if your more inclined to the Chareidi mentality. But either of them would be good. Dont forget to ask Hashem to help you make the right decision! :-).

    Hatzlacha!

80: What did you mean earlier when writing that which one of those two is best depends if the OP leans towards the Chareidi or MO hashkafa?

Hamivtar is a baal teshuva yeshiva with a semicha program geared to accomodate people from their BT tracks as well as from elsewhere. It may be too modern for you but it couldn’t hurt to check it out.

Are you looking for a Yeshivah geared towards Ba’alie T’shuvah or a Yeshivah to help you become a Ba’al T’shuvah. There is a tremendous difference.

    #1087578

I applied to a major Chabad Yeshiva and got excepted. I just hope its the right choice. Ive been asking Hashem to help guide me so I make the right decision and this is where I have wound up.

    #1087579

Thats great! Hashem should shower you with endless bracha and hatzlacha through out your journey!

    #1087580

Thank you very much. I just hope its the right fit for me.

    #1087581

Well, do you have an interest in chabad chassidus at all?

    #1087582

Definitely, Likkutei Amarim is one of the most incredible things I have ever had the privilege of reading. I just want to make sure that this is the right choice because this is going to be the foundation.

    #1087583

Thats amazing! If you are really inspired by chabad chassidus, then I would totally suggest you to go to a yeshiva that concentrates on that. Aish HaTorah and Ohr Somayach aren’t like that. Many people spend years trying to find some connection that sparks the flame they so badly want to keep burning. It sounds like you may have found that. Could you see yourself as a chabad Rabbi? If so, dont pass up the door Hashem opened for you :-).

if you like mystical stuff or are hippieish, or musical, you might try out my wife’s cousin’s yeshiva, the Diaspora Yeshiva on Mt Zion. It was the first of the BT yeshivas in Israel, starting before the Six Day War. Their women’s wing is in the Old City, the men’s department is just outside the Zion Gate.

thanbo, do you realize you’re responding to a thread that’s three years old? The OP could have already gotten smicha by now.
