Happiest: try real timing your post to see if it has actually been thirty seconds. A computer doesn’t constantly update so if it overtimes (no more editing allowed by poster) it may still say thirty seconds. Hope this helps

May 1, 2011 3:49 pm at 3:49 pm #1107980Shticky GuyParticipantRe. the Rules of the Coffeeroom thread by YW Editor:
Allow me to quote from the above stickied YWN Rules thread:
“We established a set of rules that all posters must follow… 4. Before starting a new topic, do a quick check to see if the topic already exists”.
This rule is being completely ignored. Surely you Mods should lead by example and not approve threads before checking if that topic exists!
There are now on the main page 4 threads on the British Royal Wedding. That is no fairy tale story. There is also 2 threads on shlissel challos which can only be the fault of the key editor.
Several repeat threads have been closed after the 1st post with a message directing the OP to the existing thread(s) on the same topic. Please continue to do this as a matter of practice in order to keep a standard of posting and stop the CR becoming random and haphazard.
Thank You.
May 1, 2011 4:44 pm at 4:44 pm #1107981observanteenMemberI fully agree with shticky. This place has become an awful mess. While you’re at it, mods, please don’t allow silly or immature comments/threads. It really lowers the level of the CR. Thank you for your work.
I like immature threads. I was actually thinking of filtering out the mature ones. I mean seriously, who cares how much hair you can show from your tichel. It’s not like we’re women. -95
May 1, 2011 4:56 pm at 4:56 pm #1107982ZeesKiteParticipantSomeone’s REALLY against me! (if you want to ‘shteig in midos’ you’re gonna hafta have ‘savlanus’, from me too).
May 1, 2011 4:58 pm at 4:58 pm #1107983hanibParticipantjust keep in the mods comments – i love how they come down appearingly from outer space. 😉
shticky – i was wondering why there’s nothing to read – didn’t notice that they were all the same topic.
May 1, 2011 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #1107984observanteenMemberSorry Zees. I didn’t have you in mind. In fact, I didn’t have anyone in mind. But the CR has become pretty immature of late. (NOT blaming anyone, okay?)
-95 I couldn’t tell whether or not you were serious. I hope the former is true.
which one is the former?
May 1, 2011 6:20 pm at 6:20 pm #1107985Shticky GuyParticipantWhich one is the former
Oh, so you’ve appeared from outer space to speak to several poster. What about answering my earlier post. I’d love a comment on it please. Thanx.
FYI The former means the earlier/first. So because they wrote “-95 I couldnt tell whether or not you were serious”, the former is obviously “whether” as opposed to “not”. Unless it was refering to “Sorry Zees. I didnt have you in mind”.
Hows that for an immature comment?
the answer to your question, is that we do try, but sometimes they slip through.
May 1, 2011 6:33 pm at 6:33 pm #1107986Shticky GuyParticipantSometimes?
May 1, 2011 7:59 pm at 7:59 pm #1107987observanteenMemberThanks, Shticky. I didn’t have the patience to “explain” every other word to a mod.
May 19, 2011 9:23 pm at 9:23 pm #1107989yogiboobooMemberhow can i contact the mods directly?
May 19, 2011 9:45 pm at 9:45 pm #1107990adorableParticipantclick on the contact us button
September 22, 2011 9:03 am at 9:03 am #1107996Shticky GuyParticipantHi and thanx for a wonderful site.
After submitting a post in the coffee room, it can only be edited for about 20 mins, which is especially frustrating at times when there are no mods on and it will not be read and approved sometimes for several hours.
Is it possible to change this so that a post should be editable until read by a mod, irrespective of time elapsed?
Thank you.
September 22, 2011 1:04 pm at 1:04 pm #1107997real-briskerMemberShticky Guy – I don’t understand why you need more than 20 minutes when there are no mods around. The point of being able to edit a post, is for if you click send post to quickly, and then you realize that there are spelling mistakes, or it dosen’t read well, or you change your mind… Which all these things take place usualy within 20 minutes.
September 22, 2011 2:06 pm at 2:06 pm #1107998adorableParticipantrb- well said. sometimes though it takes people a long time to realize they said something stupid!
September 22, 2011 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #1107999Shticky GuyParticipantRB and adorable I was recently up thru the nite and posted something at around 3.30am. After a few minutes I wanted to edit my post but only had internet access about twenty minutes later and when I then attempted to edit it I was unable to. That post was probably only read by a mod many hours later due to the time of nite, but I was still left unable to change it which is a shame and unnecessary.
MODS is it feasible??
September 22, 2011 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #1108000real-briskerMemberShticky Guy – So then again, what does your request have anything to do with the fact that there are no mods around.
September 22, 2011 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm #1108001Shticky GuyParticipantReal Brisk Baby: Simply that my post was in no mans land, neither anywhere near being approved any time soon nor was it editable by me. Had a mod been on and the post was approved and posted by then then its too bad. But when its just hanging in cyberspace then why not give me the option to edit it? What’s so difficult to understand?
September 22, 2011 5:21 pm at 5:21 pm #1108002adorableParticipantmoral of the story- dont post in the middle of the night!
September 22, 2011 6:03 pm at 6:03 pm #1108003Shticky GuyParticipantSo dont post in the middle of the day either because then also there are long modless or mod free periods. Truth is we have no clue when they are on and when not. I posted earlier and my post was thru within one minute!
Anyway, this issue has now been fully discussed. Can we please have a mod’s opinion now. Thanx.
September 22, 2011 6:57 pm at 6:57 pm #1108004real-briskerMemberShticky Guy – Sorry if I am being difficult, But I still dont get the connection.
November 17, 2011 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #1108006Shticky GuyParticipantMODS – THIS THREAD IS FOR POSTERS TO CONTACT YOU ON. PLEASE REPLY. THANX.
Why when starting a new thread is it not editable at all after pressing ‘Send’? I clicked on edit right after beginning one yesterday but it just brought me back to the main coffeeroom. Can this be changed?
November 17, 2011 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm #1108007YW Moderator-20ModeratorWhich thread are you referring to? Was the thread closed or deleted?
November 17, 2011 4:36 pm at 4:36 pm #1108008soliekMembersoliek why have posts been taking 2 hours to get approved lately?
November 17, 2011 5:01 pm at 5:01 pm #1108009Shticky GuyParticipantMod 20: Thanx for responding. No the thread was not closed or deleted. It was posted. Here’s the URL
I’ve had it before. After posting a new thread, it cannot be edited, unlike other posts on old threads where you have about 20 mins to edit. I was wondering why this is. Thank you.
November 17, 2011 7:44 pm at 7:44 pm #1108010YW Moderator-20ModeratorShticky- I don’t know why this is happening. If you want you can reach the editor by clicking on the contact us feature. Sorry!
November 17, 2011 8:35 pm at 8:35 pm #1108011Shticky GuyParticipantThanx 20. Thats just what I did. Lets see if I get my first ever response to the Contact Us form despite having used it several times. Now that’s another issue that needs resolving… 🙁
November 17, 2011 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm #1108012YW Moderator-20ModeratorSorry Shticky. You can always try stalking him. That should work 😉
November 21, 2011 4:40 am at 4:40 am #1108013real-briskerMemberI would like to thank which ever mod Edited that post that was meias on the “last name thread”.
November 21, 2011 10:57 am at 10:57 am #1108014Shticky GuyParticipantLets see if I get my first ever response to the Contact Us form despite having used it several times
Not seen any email back from YWN yet. A response would be appreciated if possible. Thank you.
November 21, 2011 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm #1108015☕️coffee addictParticipantGood luck with that
November 21, 2011 4:43 pm at 4:43 pm #1108016Shticky GuyParticipantWhy coffee have you had the same lack of response? I suppose if any of the mods were coffee addict addicts they would answer you… ?
November 21, 2011 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1108017real-briskerMemberShticky – I have had the same problem as you in the past. I don’t belive the mods read the emails from the “contact us” I think it goes to the editor.
November 22, 2011 10:42 am at 10:42 am #1108018Shticky GuyParticipantRB It doesnt mater who the Contact Us goes to. It for sure goes somewhere and that person should answer. I know they cant answer every email they get, but at least one or two would be a start…
November 30, 2011 5:57 am at 5:57 am #1108019real-briskerMemberMods – Thanks for cleaning up all the schmutz from the CR today.
December 26, 2011 5:38 am at 5:38 am #1108022real-briskerMemberI would like to give credit where credit is due. And show recognition and appreciation to the mod who went beyond his call of duty and closed the “why?” thread. Thank You.
December 26, 2011 1:34 pm at 1:34 pm #1108023Shticky GuyParticipantNot that the editor or most mods showed interest in answering my question of why a newly started thread is not editable once posted, but for the sake of mod 20, real brisker and anyone else interested, immediately after submitting a new thread a few days ago (which was obviously at that stage only visible to me), I attempted to write a second post and got the message “This topic has been closed” when in fact it had not yet even been opened. This may help to understand why the new thread is not editable. So can this please be changed?
December 26, 2011 2:33 pm at 2:33 pm #1108024real-briskerMembershticky – That is the message one gets if they get a post box before the mods actually closed the thread, and then they submit the post after the mods close it. An explanaition can be because an unaprooved thread is not really there. And it looks at it just like posting on a closed thread, cause both of them “kiulu” you have no reshus to post on.
That’s how the system works. Mods don’t have the ability to change that. -95
December 26, 2011 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #1108025✡onegoal™ParticipantDo you think it would be possible to make it so a user can remove any of his posts at any time regardless of how long it’s been since it was posted.
December 26, 2011 9:49 pm at 9:49 pm #1108026Shticky GuyParticipantRB thats my point exactly. I was saying that I had realized that an unapproved thread is as closed as a closed one and can this be changed? To which 95 replied (thank you) that mods cannot.
Onegoal thats an interesting idea but think how weird threads would look with posts missing then subsequent replies to those posts would not make sense. Instead, be aware that once you send a post you have no further control over it (after the edit period elapses) so – mussar haskel – consider what you write carefully before sending it.
December 26, 2011 10:07 pm at 10:07 pm #1108027✡onegoal™ParticipantYes shticky, but I made a comment before (I will not specify) that I shouldn’t have, but couldn’t get rid of it. If I would have asked the mods to remove it everyone would have realized what I said. So what can I do? I contacted the editor, but to no avail.
December 26, 2011 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #1108028YW Moderator-20ModeratorOnegoal- you can post your request as a regular post and add in big bold words:
MODS PLEASE DO NOT POST
December 26, 2011 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #1108030chavalmanMemberI’ve seen posted comments with the request not to post it displayed right in the comment. hehe
December 26, 2011 11:50 pm at 11:50 pm #1108031✡onegoal™Participant20- I have done that before and it was posted anyway, But in the case of the last thing someones identity was at stake, so I wasn’t going to risk it.
December 27, 2011 5:46 am at 5:46 am #1108032real-briskerMemberMods – How is that possible, chavalman posted here, but under his profile it says no posts?
December 27, 2011 6:31 am at 6:31 am #1108033chocandpatienceMemberHow is that possible, real-brisker posts here plenty, but under his profile it has just three posts?
December 27, 2011 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm #1108034real-briskerMemberchoc -The differnece is, r-b- profile wasnt just created 7 hours ago. (yes, i figured that was the answer.)
December 27, 2011 8:50 pm at 8:50 pm #1108035chocandpatienceMemberDoesn’t necessarily mean anything.
I actually lurked quite a while before I created a user name and I think I knew how to change my nick-name by then.
December 27, 2011 9:12 pm at 9:12 pm #1108036real-briskerMemberchoc – Yeah?
December 27, 2011 10:18 pm at 10:18 pm #1108037chocandpatienceMemberyeah what?
