We’ve gotten used to having these LOL posts of yours peppering many threads here, and sharp, humorous comments mysteriously appearing out of nowhere in bold at the end of posts etc etc.
It may just be me so correct me if I’m wrong, but you’ve been kinda quiet of late. Have you chas vshalom joined the retired mods? Where are you? I miss your rocking cracks!
80 is the gematria of letter ‘Pay’. We seem to be a Pay free, Payless site at the moment and *we want this changing!*
EDITORS: WE WANT OUR PAY AND WE WANT HIM RIGHT NOW! DONT WITHHOLD OUR PAY. OCCUPY YWN – HERE WE GO…

wow…how long did it take you to come up with that gem…
November 22, 2011 4:20 pm at 4:20 pm #1076141popa_bar_abbaParticipantshtiky: I challenge you to open a thread called “Occupy YWN”, and make it funny.
Now think about this first. Firstly, in what manner do you intend to occupy? Also, do you have any general demands? (Occupy movements arent supposed to have specific demands)
November 22, 2011 9:00 pm at 9:00 pm #1076142feivelParticipantyes 80 is the gematria of the letter pei
thats why moderator 80 chose it.
it is the gematria of the first letter of his name.
moderator 80 has resigned
but i am still checking in once in a while

You mean his names. Because assuming you are really him, he has two names beginning with Pei: Feivel, and of course Popa. But you’re not him and he hasnt resigned. Is this a November Fools joke?
Soliek: thanks. And how long did it take you to come up with your screenname?
November 22, 2011 10:13 pm at 10:13 pm #1076147real-briskerMemberSo 80 – Is Feivel.

November 23, 2011 12:43 am at 12:43 am #1076152Shticky GuyParticipantFeivel=80=popa??? Or maybe not? Well, popa’s still here so that’s something. But 80 you cant go! Noooooo Way!!! That would be losing the two best posters ever within about a week of each other! Can you ‘Modereightor 80’ yourself please post in on this! Occupy guys: Get set! Bring your tents!
Fine n dandy.: I nominate you for a coffee oscar for somehow (?) being the best informed newbie that I have ever come across…
November 23, 2011 1:46 am at 1:46 am #1076153ZeesKiteParticipantFeivel, At least could you hand me over your keys? C’mon, I’m gonna miss you tons <BAWL> <SOB>. You were the only one to put up with me!
November 23, 2011 3:17 am at 3:17 am #1076154real-briskerMemberSo are they looking for a new Moderator to fill his place?
November 23, 2011 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #1076155hanibParticipantHah! Thanks to Kapusta, I knew Feivel was mod. 80. she once mentioned that she suspected it – i then read the old threads, and saw that it MUST be true! (though i think mod. 80 is a little more moderate than feivel. (pun intended)
i thought i would have to give in my detective badge, but maybe i can still keep it. i also suspected that mod. 80 was retiring, but i thought icot was taking his place – so i wasn’t quite right about that. i’ve been trying to spy out the mod school, but it’s a little tricky as the school is not plottable, and they keep changing the invisibility spell on it. (I’m not that good at magic, especially the housekeeping ones – maybe i’m a squib?
November 23, 2011 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm #1076156real-briskerMemberbinah – What made you think ICOT is taking his place?
November 23, 2011 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm #1076157cherrybimParticipantWho is going to delete most of my posts now?
November 23, 2011 5:49 pm at 5:49 pm #1076158chocandpatienceMemberMod 80. I was wondering where you were.
Gone without a farewell?
At least you could come back as feivel.
November 23, 2011 6:29 pm at 6:29 pm #1076159hanibParticipantreal brisker – if i knew how to do that really cool “here” stuff i would do it, but i’m too lazy to learn how and too lazy to find the right thread, but on one thread mod. 80 even said that icot would make a good moderator.
the truth is that he would. he’s pretty calm, even-handed, smart, and has read sf books (which i think is the main prerequisite for being a mod).
November 23, 2011 7:20 pm at 7:20 pm #1076160real-briskerMemberbinah – Thats true, ICOT would definitly make a good mod.
November 23, 2011 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #1076161adorableParticipantI told you guys he was feivel but I dont think he ever let that post through
November 24, 2011 4:05 pm at 4:05 pm #1076162ZeesKiteParticipantYeah, I REALLY MISS HIM!!!
Now Mods won’t let in half of my stuff. Right?
WELL WE LET IN THIS ONE!! BUT YOU BETTER SHAPE UP, CR IS NOT FOR KIDS ANYMORE
See! I told you. Moderators now are serious (& grouchy) people. They have work, families, sedorim… They no longer have time for my xxxx. HOW I MISS HIM!!
November 24, 2011 5:36 pm at 5:36 pm #1076163Shticky GuyParticipantI just realised. If Feivel’s revelation is true, then that’s two Kings of their fields who have retired in the same month, and their names look really similar:
1. M80
2. MBD
CAN ANY ‘MOD’ (MOD ALSO LOOKS SIMILAR) PLEASE CONFIRM/DENY M80’s RETIREMENT.

Thank you both for the kind words.
(I’m not sure how you picked up that I was a big sci-fi reader, but that was many years ago – sometime last century, to be precise.)
“Moderator 80” / “feivel” is someone who’s very much appreciated.
Here are a couple of my favorite posts of his:
1) This is an extremely tactful and honest way of addressing an unfortunate chilul H-shem situation caused by community members:
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/community-effort-to-stealing-shoes#post-238212
2) The “signature” on this post was one of a handful that had me literally “lol”ing:

November 24, 2011 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm #1076165real-briskerMemberICOT – No problem, I also very much appreciated those posts.
November 25, 2011 3:52 am at 3:52 am #1076166JotharMemberFeivel, You are one of my favorite posters. You brought a certain well-reasoned intelligence which combined science and Torah. I was wondering where you went. Hatzlacha on your endeavors.
November 25, 2011 6:22 am at 6:22 am #1076167HealthParticipantMod 80 (retired) – When you were Feivel you had openly admitted you were an eye doc, and when you were 80 -you never told us you were (and I believe I asked). Why? Did you think people would put 2 & 2 together? And if yes, so what?
November 25, 2011 7:29 am at 7:29 am #1076168hanibParticipanthealth – i think we can definitely understand now why info. that can more easily identify us, one would not want repeated. i would think that the anonymousity (don’t think that’s a word, but if squeak and lewis carroll can make up words, so can i) factor would be even more important for a mod.
icot – see, even for one who is so careful not to reveal info., ’tis very hard to not reveal such crucial aspects of oneself.
just goes to show, that maybe i’ll make it in this world as a private detective, after all.
(i think you mentioned in one thread that something reminded you of one of asimov’s books – i think it was pebble in the sky (it was one of the early ones that i haven’t read)
and to all the mods who work hard to make this place a safe place – thank you, cuz part of the fun of this place is being real and sometimes letting it slip that you’ve heard of isaac asimov 😉
and if icot, you would have mentioned that you’ve read harry potter, i would completely be able to identify you. 😉
actually, maybe i can identify you better if you’ve never read harry potter.
November 25, 2011 8:16 am at 8:16 am #1076169moi aussiMemberAnonymity is the correct word
November 25, 2011 10:34 am at 10:34 am #1076170Shticky GuyParticipantI’ve never read any harry potters! Oops I shouldnt have said that. I’ve just almost given away my identity. Almost because there are two of us who still have not read harry potter. So I’m still 50% safe! In fact, I tried reading the first book but gave up after a while. His magic did not rub off onto me. I dont know why. Should I try again? Who considers it as a childs book and who an adult book?
Jo do you realise that by discussing feivel we are giving away our cr age. I always felt bad for him, posting so many amazing nature topics and getting poor response. But his wisdom and fun are +1.
November 27, 2011 12:36 am at 12:36 am #1076171Shticky GuyParticipantICOT What a great idea. lets all post here the comments or posts that set mod 80 aside from the rest of us. If you remember a comment but do not remember exactly where it is, check his profile
http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/profile/yw-moderator-80
BTW the last post of mod 80 is on his thread called The Inseparable Connection! I wish he was refering to the Coffeeroom!!!! (http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/the-inseparable-connection#post-319953)
I will begin:
Joseph
The Bed-Stuy Account (Remember our warning)
What should the kinderlach call their elter zeida and bubbe’s? Simply Zeidy and Bubby? How will they differentiate between all the Elter Zeidy’s and the regular Zeidy’s?
WolfishMusings
The Wolf
Does it really matter?
FWIW, my kids refer to their great-grandmothers as “Grandma” and have no problem differentiating them from their actual grandmothers.
The Wolf

Wolf: When they talk to you about “Grandma”, how do you know which grandma or great-grandma they are speaking of?

no one mentions grandma to the wolf anymore, not after that unfortunate incident with the girl in the red hood.
November 27, 2011 2:02 am at 2:02 am #1076172Borough Park MenschParticipantWhat makes a good moderator?
(Reflections from a long-time lurker and occasional poster, after discussion with friends. This post is speaking in general and NOT about any particular individual. This thread just seemed like a good place to put it.)
1. A good moderator thoroughly knows the rules published at http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/rules-of-the-ywn-coffee-room-please-read.
2. A good moderator enforces only these rules and does not make up his own.
3. A good moderator recognizes that his role is moderator and not participant and therefore expresses no opinion in a thread.
4. A good moderator does not take sides in an argument between members. A good moderator will not ban a member solely because he does not like him or her.
6. A good moderator will not shut down a thread or refuse to allow a posting for the sole reason that he disagrees with an opinion.
7. A good moderator respects the membership and in return earns respect for himself.
8. A good moderator will not give false information about his education, occupation or level of Torah observance.
9. A good moderator will encourage members to post in clear and grammatically correct English.
10. In keeping with the principles of achdus, a good moderator will not allow baseless and hurtful statements about one member to be posted by another or for similar statements about one part of the community to be posted by members of another.
November 27, 2011 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #1076173real-briskerMemberBPM – Welcome, You know a little too much for your first post.
November 27, 2011 6:03 pm at 6:03 pm #1076174moi aussiMemberBPM, It’s a brilliant list. Wonder what the mods think of it…
November 27, 2011 6:20 pm at 6:20 pm #1076175✡onegoal™ParticipantWell they let it through…
November 27, 2011 6:31 pm at 6:31 pm #1076176Josh31ParticipantI believe 80 is now posting under a different number.
11. A good moderator slows down speeding neutrons to allow the nuclear reaction to proceed.
12. A good moderator does not absorb neutrons.
November 27, 2011 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm #1076177real-briskerMemberJosh31 – I don’t.
November 28, 2011 7:05 am at 7:05 am #1076178hanibParticipantmoi aussi: thanks; by the way, what does your name mean? (never learned french, if that’s what it is)
shticky: oh, so you’re….?
actually, i’m pretty sure Rav Chaim Kanievsky never read them either.
truthfully, there’s no need to read them – only if you like this kind of stuff. the brilliance of the author was that the first book is written on an 11 year old level, the age of the main characters at the time. then she keeps writing progressively to older level, as harry potter gets older and older.
it’s a combination fantasy/science fiction type of book in which she created a whole magic world, which you actually feel can be true.
November 28, 2011 7:09 am at 7:09 am #1076179hanibParticipanta good moderator…. are the ones we have: i think all the moderators here are excellent. it’s a very difficult job balancing between allowing people to have their say and yet protecting other people at the same time, and keeping the atmosphere heimish and friendly.
they’re smart, knowledgeable, and are doing a tremendous chesed!
November 28, 2011 7:10 am at 7:10 am #1076180hanibParticipantalso, i read some old cr stuff – i really liked what feivel had to say and his stuff on the wonders of animals, etc.
