Does anyone have experience with finding/arranging a minyan on a cruise (not a “kosher” cruise)such as Royal Caribbean? How would I go about finding other frum people on the cruise?
January 9, 2013 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm #1050996shmoelMemberForget a minyan. What about kosher food? Or, more fundamentally, a kosher crowd.
Find a kosher crowd first and you won’t be on a cruise that you are looking for a minyan on.
January 9, 2013 5:17 pm at 5:17 pm #1050997takahmamashParticipantMy parents took several cruises on the QE2. There was a kosher kitchen, a shule, and minyanim.

January 9, 2013 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm #1050999zahavasdadParticipantIf you order Kosher Food on a cruise, they will give it to you, Its Airline food
January 9, 2013 6:14 pm at 6:14 pm #1051000yaakov doeParticipantAside from the kosher TV dinners, is anything else “kosher” on a cruise? I assume that there’s a lot that shouldn’t be seen.
January 9, 2013 7:15 pm at 7:15 pm #1051001zahavasdadParticipantIf one wanted to follow a Chumra , almost nowhere could be considered a “Kosher” vacation except maybe Jerusalem
Kosher food or Minyanim can be sparse in most places and I know people who assur Disney (Kol Isha at the Parade?)
January 9, 2013 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #1051002KovodHabriyosMemberWhy should a Disney parade with Kol Isha NOT be assur. Of course it would be assur.
January 9, 2013 9:53 pm at 9:53 pm #1051003ToiParticipantzdad- lo sasuru is a possuk, not a chumra. get a grip.
To the op- maybe we’ll join forces and make minyanim at nightclubs?
January 9, 2013 10:10 pm at 10:10 pm #1051004zahavasdadParticipantYou can go to Disney without seeing the Parade, I saw lots of frum people there including Chassidim (And they were at the Parade)
January 9, 2013 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #1051005apushatayidParticipantIs there an issur kol isha as it relates to minnie mouse?
January 9, 2013 10:34 pm at 10:34 pm #1051006shmoelMemberWhy not? It is a human doing the singing.
January 9, 2013 11:26 pm at 11:26 pm #1051007zahavasdadParticipantActually they dont sing at the Parade , Its piped in music and they Lip Synch
The disney characters like Minnie Mouse are not allowed to talk to the guests
January 10, 2013 12:00 am at 12:00 am #1051008shmoelMemberEven if that’s true you are still listening to recorded singing of a woman.
January 10, 2013 12:28 am at 12:28 am #1051009truthsharerMemberand it’s more than one person singing at the same time, so kol isha may not necessarily apply.
January 10, 2013 3:14 am at 3:14 am #1051010funnyboneParticipantWhen people post a question, they are looking for an answer. DUH! So, if you have an answer for the question, then answer it! If you don’t, then don’t. If you feel that people shouldn’t go on cruises then feel free to start a thread about cruises. This one is about a minyan on a cruise!!
January 10, 2013 4:03 am at 4:03 am #1051011gornitMemberOn the non-kosher cruises the minyan is usually after the daf yomi shiyur, not.
January 10, 2013 4:38 am at 4:38 am #1051013ziggy86MemberOP here.
Thank you all for your responses – for the “mussar” as well. This cruise is something that has been offered to us, not something which we have sought out, so we had been wondering if it was something to even consider…..Thank you again! And to funnybone – I couldn’t have said it better myself.
January 10, 2013 4:55 am at 4:55 am #1051014charliehallParticipantI know a frum couple that takes non-kosher cruises. They subsist on canned tuna and the fresh fruit available to everyone. At the end of the cruise they are the only passengers who didn’t gain weight!
September 15, 2013 2:27 pm at 2:27 pm #1051015kdcruisesMembergoogle group cruisewithaminyan
January 6, 2015 1:30 am at 1:30 am #1051016BubbyKParticipantIs anyone still reading this thread?
We’ve gone on 5 cruises, some with a minyan, othertimes not so successful. Food is totally a non-issue. Aside from cholov yisroel milk, which we bring with us, the cruise provides a vast array of pre-packaged, doubled sealed meals, and all the whole, uncut fresh fruits and vegetables you want. just bring along a peeler and knife.
More info if you need.
