Some yeshivas have mincha gedola minyanim on Fridays only. There’s one yeshiva in Far Rockaway that has such a minyan daily. Two questions: 1. Is there a halachic basis for davening at mincha gedola only on Fridays or is it just a matter of convenience? 2. Is there a daily mincha gedola minyan in the greater Flatbush area?
If one has a preference I would assume it would be throughout the whole week. There is a machlokes between the rishonim if mincha gedola is preferred or mincha ketana is. Erev Shabbas channuka people are careful to daven by mincha gedola because it should be done before lighting the menorah.
