My father who attended TA(Talmudical Academy) in Baltimore (graduated in 63′) has told me that they were served only milchigs on Shavous, no fleishigs and there were some very religios( I would not call them Yeshivish at that time) rebbeim who joined them for meals. What changed?

    What changed?

The Red Sox finally won the World Series after 86 years.

Actually nothing changed. The rebbeim had a different minhug than whomever you are comparing it to now.

Nothing changed. Therer are those that hold that ain simcha elah b’vasar v’yayin, and will primarily choose to eat fleishigs on Shavuos. There are those who follow the minhag that fish is also a type of “basar” and who believe that when the Torah was given, the laws of milchigs and fleishigs made all the keilim treif, and it was easier to prepare milchigs for yom tov and not have to worry about shechting animals. So they primarily choose to eat dairy. There is a great deal of simchas yom tov to be found in a slice of cheesecake, wouldn’t you agree?

Hey, I finally agree with you about something!?

There’s always soy cheesecake. Then you could have it after a fleishig meal. It’s called having your cake and eating it too! (I know, the milchig ones are better.)

I attended TA in the early 90’s and was served fleshigs. What changed was the cook.

    lol, chaplaintzvi.

I dunno about senderav, but I use ‘howdy & y’all’. I was born in Brooklyn, & have been in many states across the US, but in the South I’ve only been to a few places in Fl., like Walt Disney World 😉 ha ha

Thank you wellmeaning. You are a good busybody.

-Chaplain, yes I am from the south(busted), but from the sound as your post, maybe not as far south as you(although Atlanta is the heart of the south). I am a true dixie yid(4th generation).
