April 14, 2013 7:33 am at 7:33 am #945616playtimeMemberI think she was a righteous women.
April 14, 2013 1:34 pm at 1:34 pm #945617flyerParticipantyes – that is why the most popular song last week in England was “the wicked witch is dead” (wizard of oz). I guess not everyone thought she was so good.
April 14, 2013 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm #945618rebdonielMemberShe was as tough as they came, a real leader, and a true friend of the Jewish People. She was one of the few who understood what was good for the Free World. She will surely be missed.
April 14, 2013 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #945619147ParticipantMargaret Thatcher Z’L was a tremendous Oheves Yisroel.
Margaret Thatcher Z’L was the one who single handedly, nominated the Late Chief Rabbi:- Lord Immanuel Jacobovits ZT’L to be a Lord; What was her reason?:- Because she admired his strong conviction to Mesoroh, and the fact that he would never bend from the truth, even when it was very uncomfortable.
Prime Minister Netanyohu has mentioned that he is flying to London to attend Margaret Thatcher’s Levayeh, becaise of her staunch Ahavas Yisroel; Let’s bear in mind, that this is a very difficult timing for Binyomin Netanyohu, as he surely is going to want to be in Israel on Thuesday for Yom ha’Atzmaut, and the very next day, he has to be in London for the Levaye.
April 14, 2013 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #945620playtimeMemberrebdoniel- Well said. (Just I think it goes, will be ‘sorely’ missed)
147- Wow, I did not know that. Indeed a woman with gravitas.
April 14, 2013 7:15 pm at 7:15 pm #945621rebdonielMemberShe represented Finchley early on in her career and first forged ties with the Jewish community then.
April 14, 2013 7:26 pm at 7:26 pm #945622147ParticipantMargaret Thatcher Z’L was a firm beleiver in the Issur meDeOrraiso of “Lo Sasig Gevul Re’acho” and of the statement of “Orur hoIsh Asher Masig Gevul Re’eihu” therefore she took no nonsense from the Argentinans when they had the audacity to storm into the Falkland Islands, and to true protect the Falkland Island’s legitimate boundaries, sent down the British Army to rightfully take back the Falkland Islands.
This strong conviction of hers, was a defining moment in her prime ministerhood.

April 14, 2013 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #945624Shticky GuyParticipantSome felt attracted by her style while others were repelled by it. But why are people surprised that the iron lady had a magnetic personality?
April 14, 2013 10:54 pm at 10:54 pm #945625Git MeshigeParticipantThe ones that were celebrating her death are the sick punks that are upset that she righfully took their welfare away and she attempted to put them to work. Sadly alot in Britain have no interest to work and the Labour policies encourage just that. Thatcher turned the country around. It was known as the booming eightys because of her policies. Of coarse she would be sorely missed by sane people not by the scum of society
April 14, 2013 11:14 pm at 11:14 pm #945626charliehallParticipantShe did support Medinat Yisrael, which is a lot more than a lot of the commenters here do! And for that she deserves praise.
But she was no friend to freedom. She praised the Pinochet regime in Chile and supported the Apartheid regime in South Africa. Medinat Yisrael does not want to be associated with regimes like those!
April 14, 2013 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #945627kfbParticipantShe was a great woman. I wasn’t alive during her reign except the last 2 years but I read that the world was a much better place under her and Regan.

Actually it was much, much worse. The Soviet Union was still around. It ceased to exist after they left office.
Interestingly, Thatcher was never that popular in the UK. The most her party ever got in a general election was 43.9% of the vote. And she was big into high taxes including a 90% tax on North Sea oil and the notorious poll tax that ended up driving her from office. Reagan, on the other hand won a majority of the popular vote in 1980 and a landslide in 1984.

it ceased to exist thanks, in large part, to ronald reagan.

+2
Steve Jobs and Michael Jackson purveyed obscenity.
Margaret Thatcher purveyed morality.
April 15, 2013 1:08 pm at 1:08 pm #945631ChortkovParticipantMay she rest in pieces.
There are bigger problems facing Anglo-Jewry.

Why should the fact that there are bigger problems cause you to curse her?
April 16, 2013 1:35 am at 1:35 am #945633playtimeMemberHere are some of Margaret thatcher’s famous quotes:
“You would rather the poor get poorer, so long as the rich don’t get richer!”
“In politics, if you want something said, ask a man; if you want to get something done, ask a woman.”
“To wear your heart on your sleeve isn’t a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best.”
“Ronnie and I got to know each other at a time when we were both in Opposition, and when a good many people intended to keep us there. They failed, and the conservative 1980s were the result. But in a certain sense, we remained an opposition, we were never the establishment. As Ron once put it: the nine most dangerous words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’ As usual, he was right.”
