Here in England I have no joy with the national health service with this condition. I have it on both arms and after 20 fittings still don’t have sleeves that fit me! I would consider going to New York or Eretz Yisroel. I know it would involve a big expense but feel I need to do something.
April 26, 2012 4:12 pm at 4:12 pm #872487HealthParticipantYes, there is medical treatment for it. In Israel, you might find the same problem as England – since their medicine is socialized.
Wait folks, our system isn’t yet Socialized, but our Pres. promised it will be shortly!
April 26, 2012 6:44 pm at 6:44 pm #872488supportMemberThere are physical therapists that do manual therapy (massage) to drain and reroute the lymph fluid. There also is compression therapy using bandages as well as a pump to drain and stop the buildup of fluid. You can look up Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in NYC directed by Amy Stein. Roseanne Cruz specializes in lymphedema treatment. They do have other international patients so you shoulk be able to work something out with them.

April 27, 2012 1:28 pm at 1:28 pm #872490NechomahParticipantI see that there is a lymphedema support site uklymph com that can give you info and have you looked into the Whiteley clinic in Surrey. I see that the term lymphedema (America version) is often spelled lymphoedema (British version) of the Latin term, so you could maybe get more info that way. If you’ve seen these, post and we’ll look into other options. You have to see whether there are private treatment locations on your side of the atlantic that would be cheaper than thinking of going to America for treatment (where you would also have to pay for treatment out of pocket).
Hatzlacha and refuah shleimah!

May 4, 2012 6:25 pm at 6:25 pm #872497Be HappyParticipantDoes any one know a doctor or therapist that they could recommend in New York?
May 6, 2012 4:55 am at 4:55 am #872498supportMemberRoseanne Cruz at Beyond Basics in NYC is great. I do not know anyone else. If there is a specific reason why you can not see her try calling her and explaining why it won’t work out and see if she can recommend anyone else. I know they have referred other PT patients else where they might know other lymphedema therapists who would be good for you.
