High above so far away

To see the small tree stay.
No it need not thrive like I,
But why not let it stay alive?
Who does the eagle represent?

I don’t understand what the song means by the sly fox.
Sly fox = Europe. Ignore the Holocaust and feel the pain of the woodsman (Arab Nations)
Eagle = USA
European nations (the EU / the UN)
That’s why he’s still got blood stains on his coat.
But if he’s “aloof, cool and remote”, why does he feel?
He’s not really feeling the pain. He’s just pretending to feel the woodsman’s pain. Basically they hate the tree so they claim to “feel” the woodsman’s pain as an excuse for being against the tree.
Exactly as it is with EU/UN.
I don’t think I have ever understood this song.
What don’t you understand about it?
Foxes don’t hate trees.
This one does.
And what’s sly about this particular fox?
He days he’s not antisemitic, just a defender of “human rights”.
Not very foxlike. Foxes tend to care about themselves. They do not love or hate.
I kept on changing my mind about the metaphor or comparison or whatever until I gave up.
Tree= eretz yisroel
woodsman=arabs, want to destroy the tree
Sly fox= europe,hates eretz yisroel because they are jewish, but like the “sly fox” hide the true meaning of hatred behind misplaced agony over the plights of the woodsman
eagle= USA, not caring about the tree that much either, but because it serves a purpose for the eagle, it will deign to let it stay alive

It makes no sense. Foxes love trees and hate woodsmen. Eagles don’t look at little trees while flying.
