August 24, 2011 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #801568yummy cupcakeMembermy friend is a certified life coach. she is so amazing, and she works mostly with teens (girls) who are having trouble with yidishkeit/family/friends/school… you get the picture. you really have to Daven tho, that you say the right thing the right way at the right time, cuz no matter how hard you worked to become certified, these kids don’t always want to hear what you have to say, and you could c”v make them feel worse. but it’s all b’yad H-Shem.
August 24, 2011 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm #801569Raphael KaufmanMemberWhat the heck is a life coach? What, inhale…exhale…inhale…exhale?
August 24, 2011 6:10 pm at 6:10 pm #801570ZeesKiteParticipantRaphael Kaufman
They teach one to be positive. Inhale, inhale, inhale!
August 24, 2011 6:42 pm at 6:42 pm #801571minyan galMemberTo me, a life coach sounds like a cross between a social worker and a psychologist/therapist. But, if I am not mistaken, some people who may be classified as “motivational speakers” such as the once famous, Tony Robbins (of infomercial fame) consider themselves to be life coaches, as well.
August 24, 2011 7:25 pm at 7:25 pm #801572Moshiach please comeMemberHow long does it take to study to become one. I always wanted to be one… How much do they get paid???!!! What do you have to study to earn the qualifications??
August 24, 2011 8:09 pm at 8:09 pm #801573TheGoqParticipantWhy is the op trying to pit one poster against another (squeak, aries) ?
August 24, 2011 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #801574ObaminatorMemberPerhaps because they disagreed with each other on this point in a previous thread.
August 24, 2011 8:21 pm at 8:21 pm #801575TheGoqParticipantSo should the op try and continue the fight here? why?
August 24, 2011 8:42 pm at 8:42 pm #801576Abe CohenParticipantSeeking different perspectives on an issue does not constitute a fight.
August 24, 2011 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #801577TheGoqParticipantI refer you to the title of this thread
August 24, 2011 10:05 pm at 10:05 pm #801578hello99ParticipantI think the most obvious issue people might have with coaching is that the coach is effectively serving as a Social Worker/Psychologist, without much of the professional training and regulation. Anyone can call themselves a “coach”, and if they are incompetent the could do much harm.
August 24, 2011 11:16 pm at 11:16 pm #801579bein_hasdorimParticipantNot every certified life coach is really qualified in being an actual life coach, you should seek someone who is a little older and has actual life experience as opposed to some young shnook that did a course.
This is common sense and goes without saying, although I find that many times stuff that are should be common sense somehow isn’t so common as the saying goes.
