Why are we asking Hashem to have compassion on us like a father has on his sons, it should be like a mother has on her sons, believe me I’m a lot stricter on my kids than my wife
Interesting question. We also say Avinu Malkeinu which would fall under the same idea… Your question seems to be more about why we refer to Hashem as a father (as opposed to mother) in general, not only where you mentioned, is that right?
K’racheim av al banim 13 weeks left until we shall be chanting this phrase thrice in “haYom Haras Olom”. Tonite is exactly 100 days left until Yom Kippur.
And the answer I heard about that was that a father has the ENTIRE picture in mind, he will do what is beneficial for his son. As in the shmooze I heard – a mother will give her son poison if he begs too much. So a father will have the real, total rachmanus of his child in mind and only do what’s really good, through and through. That’s called ????? ?????. Good on all sides.
