I think I’m an OOT-er at heart, and I guess since Chicago is not in NY it would fit that description. I don’t know anyone in Chicago, so not very likely that I’ll be coming, but hey, ya never know.

I once was redt a shidduch with a girl from Chicago but she turned me down because she called me a NYer b/c I live 4 hours away in a different state (which I find to be very NYish actually)
so it seems like chicagoians have some NY in them too

I am not from Chicago, though I visited a few times. When I was there, I saw this guy with a black fedora in shul, was that you popa? Or were you the guy eating the Burger Buddy at the table next to me in Great Chicago? Or were you the guy shoveling the snow in front of the kollel?

as a born and bred new yorker, i always thought of other places as oot and of course “how could there be frum communities elsewhere?” when i got engaged and told my boss that i would probably be moving to chicago, she said “what?! you’re gonna live in a hick town like that?” little did she know!
btw – there are so many new yorkers who now live here, it’s almost a second new york. anyway, i’m still a new yorker at heart – you know the saying “you can take the girl out of ny but you can’t take ny out of the girl”

I think we should start a thread that you post in if you are out of town or going out of town so that the people who live where you are visiting can be notified that you are or will be in town. Anybody else like this idea? I can’t think of a name for it.
So are the Flatbushers making this thing official? I’ll have to check carefully whenever I come across GumBalls or RedNails…
