November 17, 2011 4:59 pm at 4:59 pm #828514ha ha ha haMembertry one of the many chasunah malls they have a one stop shop!! with great stuff!!!
Hatzlocha! and keep calm!!
November 17, 2011 5:07 pm at 5:07 pm #828515yentishParticipantfirst off, wherever you go, take the kallah with you so she can choose patterns, appliances etc.
bed, bath and beyond is great, they have absolutely everything and they have 20% off coupons that you can sign up to get. (and a little secret- they accept expired coupons! so dont throw them out!)
you can also try jcpenney and macy’s home collections, often they have very nice dishes and kitchen things that are on sale, especially now during their holiday season. it might be easier to find sets of 8 or 12 dishes in the jewish stores, but other stores sell a standard set of 6 and i just bought 2 boxes=set of 12. you can get nice corelle dishes for milchigs as well.
for large brand name stuff (cuisinart, bosch, kitchen aid, calphalon, blender, pots/pans, toaster, microwave) etc. i’d do some research before you go shopping, because often you’ll find a cheaper price online and stores will often match it
mazel tov! happy shopping!

“Kallos…half price, this week only, cheap yet durable” LOL.
November 17, 2011 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #828519QmomMemberVery interesting topic. This is my first post, but I just had to jump in.
Is Buzz really that good? What makes it the best place to go? The fact that it has everything? But how are the prices? How would you compare it to something like Target?
Also which places would you recommend for furniture shopping for the new family? Linen shopping?
Thanks!
November 17, 2011 6:04 pm at 6:04 pm #828520kingdavidParticipantMy children did the shopping at Wilhelm’s in Boro Park it on 14th ave between 41st and 42cnd streets.
The selection they have there is really amazing and I was very satisfied with the services.
November 17, 2011 6:24 pm at 6:24 pm #828521Anonymous91ParticipantWILHELMS is also a great place to try. They have everything you could possibly need-it’s a one stop shop, they give you personal attention, and they’ll toivel everything and deliver to you. Also, if you spend at least a certain amount you can get a percentage off. And make sure you clip the coupon in the Chosson/Kallah guide for 20% off your order! It’s a great deal!!
November 17, 2011 6:28 pm at 6:28 pm #828522gartelParticipantWilhelm’s has fantastic service and great prices. In Boro Park and Williamsburg.
November 17, 2011 7:01 pm at 7:01 pm #828523☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI would also go with Wilhelm’s.

November 17, 2011 9:13 pm at 9:13 pm #828526gotchyagoodMemberi think peppermill has great deals for kallahs,o. and r u looking not 2 spend a lot?
November 17, 2011 11:11 pm at 11:11 pm #828527BubbyLaParticipantThanks all for the info.
I did go into Wilhelm’s today and I’m sold. They have a very large selection to choose from. The sales ladies seem nice and they’re giving me a private appointment (I like that). I compared some prices with another store mentioned and they were pretty much the same. They do offer a substantial discount on minimum purchase (Thanks Anonymous91)! What I like most is that they are a store special for Kallah’s not just a store with some Kallah needs.
I’ll keep anyone posted how it went after I shop there.
Thanks again for all the great tips.
November 18, 2011 12:03 am at 12:03 am #828528spiralParticipantKitchen and Beyond on 42nd st. between 12th and 13th Aves. Great service. Big selection. Very good prices. Most of my daughter’s friends shopped there. Besides the regular hours you can set up an appointment that is convenient for you.
The phone number is 718-686-2222.
November 18, 2011 12:55 am at 12:55 am #828529real-briskerMemberMods – Something is fishy here. I suspect Free Advertisment (against the YWN-CR Rules). BubbyLa opened an account yesterday, and posted only twice. Once In the “corelle dishes” thread, and second time she started this thread. And both of them she makes mention about “Wilhelms” and their great service… Smells Fishy. Sorry If I’m wrong.
November 18, 2011 1:56 pm at 1:56 pm #828530kingdavidParticipantREPLY TO real-brisker
There is nothing fishy here! why can’t you judge a person favorably? If this is the topic on her mind, this is what she talks about…
So yes.. sorry you are wrong.
November 18, 2011 2:56 pm at 2:56 pm #828531real-briskerMemberkingdavid – Are you another one of her SN’s? After all you also mentioned to go to Wilhelm’s.
November 18, 2011 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm #828532miritchkaMemberReal-Brisker: After this whole AYC ‘scandal’ I can see why one would be suspicious. But just think about it this way: BubbyLa visited the coffee room as a reader, not a member for a long time. Now she has a relative who is getting married and she needs advice. She’s seen what she can gain by asking our esteemed crowd so she becomes a member.
It doesnt seem fishy anymore…and welcome to BubbyLa!
November 18, 2011 4:24 pm at 4:24 pm #828533Raphael KaufmanMemberThe OP specifically asked for places to shop. I see nothing untoward about posters responding with their own suggestions and shopping experiences.
November 18, 2011 4:29 pm at 4:29 pm #828534smartcookieMemberRB- I agree. Thought of it as soon as she opened this thread.
November 18, 2011 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #828535FunnyBunnyMemberonline has all the best savings , Generally Jewish stores will cost u
November 18, 2011 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #828536real-briskerMembersmartcookie – Thanks for the haskamah.
November 18, 2011 5:05 pm at 5:05 pm #828537real-briskerMembermiritchka – Nothing to do with the ayc scandal, I’ve been keeping an eye out in the CR for all different type’s of suspicions, and free advertisment is pretty easy to pick up on. Especially when a brand new posters first two post are complimenting a specific store/product.
November 18, 2011 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #828538gavra_at_workParticipantEven I’ve heard of Wilhelm’s. I’ve never been there, but have heard good things.
I have been to the Buzz, and did buy some housewares there.
All good places. I’ll echo MoodcheDoovid.

November 21, 2011 2:54 am at 2:54 am #828539BubbyLaParticipantOy vey people. I just checked back. Is this what it’s about? I’m not one to give mussar but one should be careful what one says.
Thanks all again for the good (and funny) advise.
November 21, 2011 4:31 am at 4:31 am #828540aries2756ParticipantNow is a good time to compare prices online for various big ticket items. Pots and pans can be expensive as well. And if you are NOT looking for fancy and frilly linen, but still nice quality cotton, try Smartbargains.com; overstock.com; and even amazon.com. You will be surprised at the great buys and good quality of matching duvets and sheets. In addition to pillow, blankets, towels, etc.
The first thing to do is make a list of what the Kallah is looking for. Then google it to see where you can buy it the cheapest. Don’t forget to include tax and shipping charges so you have a true comparison.
Hatzlocha and Mazal Tov.
November 21, 2011 5:02 am at 5:02 am #828541real-briskerMemberBubbyLa – Was I wrong?
November 21, 2011 5:12 am at 5:12 am #828542farrockgrandmaParticipantCentury 21 has a good selection of linens and some housewares, at very good prices. (I haven’t checked the Brooklyn store)
November 21, 2011 11:48 am at 11:48 am #828543just meParticipantI did very well when I shopped with my daughter at the Kallah Warehouse on Ft. Hamilton and (I think) 45 St. The prices were good and the service was excellent.
My first thought was like Akuperma, that “there is a sale of kallas somewhere?” That would take care of the shiduch crisis!
November 21, 2011 2:41 pm at 2:41 pm #828544smartcookieMemberJust me- I’m almost sure that store is on 47th and ft hamilton. Yes, it is a great store.
I see nobody mentioned a rather new store on 13-42 in BP, Plug-ins. I had a good experience in all of the stores mentioned above.
November 21, 2011 4:41 pm at 4:41 pm #828545mewhoParticipanthey guys, aren’t we supposed to be ”dan lekaf zechus” not sure about the spelling.
but why think that there is an ulterior motive.
i must say, it never even crossed my mind.
guess i must be naive.
anyway, to continue on track with my earlier post……with regard to Kallah Shopping, this is one of those times you can’t BOGO – BUY ONE GET ONE..only one Kallah per Chosson please.
🙂
