October 30, 2011 7:17 am at 7:17 am #886831wanderingchanaParticipantJunie B. Jones books were banned from my house from the time my oldest was in kindergarten. The poor grammar sets a terrible example for kids just learning to read/write. My kids aren’t even allowed to say the words “stupid” or “idiot”.
October 30, 2011 4:55 pm at 4:55 pm #886832brotherofursParticipantyeah your right about her language, but for me her grammar didnt affect me for the bad, i think it helped me realize when i was little that this was Bad grammar and i would laugh it.. so i would never think of writing like that.
October 30, 2011 9:36 pm at 9:36 pm #886833minyan galMemberbrotherofurs, you say you would never think of writing like that, but you just did. You said “her grammar didn’t affect me for the bad”. Then with a run on sentence (and an uncapitilized “I” you introduced a new and grammatically incorrect second thought.

July 23, 2012 4:11 am at 4:11 am #886838BYEnglish TeacherMemberI liked “Ida B.” Katherine Hannigan. She’s got a similar style and targets the same age group as Junie B., but a bit more sophisticated (great grammar, etc.).
