what exactly is your definition of a ‘Jewish music video’? Something like the song of the story of the subbaro bombing video? Or Lipa’s letter to Moshie’le (Mumbai)?
July 8, 2009 3:39 am at 3:39 am #682588JotharMemberNothing worth banning or making a big deal about, but you wouldn’t find roshei yeshiva watching them.
July 8, 2009 3:53 am at 3:53 am #682589JosephParticipantJothar, you had the same opinion about concerts that many Roshei Yeshivos DID ban.
July 8, 2009 1:19 pm at 1:19 pm #682592SJSinNYCMemberI can’t imagine anything funnier…where does one find these videos?
July 8, 2009 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm #682594abxParticipantWhich videos are you talking about? There are hundreds of Jewish videos of choirs, plays, speeches, etc. Is JMV a company?
Also, what does ROTFL stand for? (Rolling On The Floor Lol?)
July 8, 2009 4:50 pm at 4:50 pm #682595squeakParticipantI agree totally. We can get this type of music and dancing from platinum artists, we don’t need it from these small-timers. It is one thing to produce for a niche market – frum jews who want refined music by upstanding yorei shomayim – but once they start trying to produce a carbon copy of what we can get “on the outside”, who needs them anymore? I’m sure that anyone who knows goyishe music can attest to the fact that their best artists outperform ours hands down. So who needs them? They make themselves unnecessary.
July 8, 2009 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #682596ishmanMemberthese movies are a way for the yeshiva bachurim to use some of their creativity and i think its a very nice project for these kids to work on
July 8, 2009 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm #682597ishmanMemberhowever these projects shouldnt interfere with their learning and they have to try not to make a chillul haashem some of the things they do are alittle wacky albeit funny (bays yisrael- lecha). also another problem is these movies might discourage me or fellow parents to send my kids to the school by giving of a false impression of a free for all attitdue
July 8, 2009 5:07 pm at 5:07 pm #682598abxParticipantOk, squeak, so what’s your take on teenage kids who’ve been hooked to youtube or the likes, and now want to do a bit better, so they’ll take the step of only watching Jewish stuff?
July 8, 2009 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #682599squeakParticipantI am dead serious.
abx, I’m not sure what you want from me. Are you suggesting that Jewish music artists should use such people as their target audience? That they should ignore the niche market of frum listeners in favor of a much smaller niche?
July 8, 2009 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #682600shaatraMemberAmes: agree totally, they are hysterical and after 30 seconds ur wondering how only 30 seconds passed
