I fail to see why el presidente O is better than witless W
March 2, 2009 10:43 pm at 10:43 pm #642881moish01Membersqueak, i’m not a fan of any president (you gotta be an idiot to run in the first place) but George Dubya isn’t exactly the brightest man on two feet. not that Obama is any better yet, but at least he has a higher IQ. that leaves more room for potential, i guess.
March 2, 2009 10:51 pm at 10:51 pm #642882squeakParticipantno, brains is not a ma’aleh unless you also have proper ideals. This guy wants to turn this country into a handout (aka socialist) society. But you’re preaching to the choir when you mention W lack of brains.
March 2, 2009 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #642883squeakParticipantI disagree. The best I can say about W is what we say about Eisav – at least he was intent on Kibbud Av.
March 2, 2009 10:54 pm at 10:54 pm #642884moish01Memberwonderful. stupid is a lot worse than evil, in my opinion. hey there’s for sure a mishna that says that somewhere… there’s gotta be one it sounds too good for there not to be…
March 2, 2009 11:01 pm at 11:01 pm #642885baal kishronParticipantim just waiting for yw editor to get involved in this one if anyone remembers he started a thread like a week ago about dubya . . .
March 2, 2009 11:08 pm at 11:08 pm #642886moish01Memberhey my last one didn’t go through.
all i said was that stupid is far worse than evil. that’s what people were saying about Palin, right? why do you think they lost? people are petrified of stupid people in positions of power. there’s no telling what they could do.
March 2, 2009 11:14 pm at 11:14 pm #642887moish01Memberyou’re kidding, right? i think I know more than she does about the economy and about foreign policy! and that’s not saying much. did you LISTEN to her speak? she’s blank. maybe she’s not stupid, but she knows nothing.
why are we talking about her, anyway? i just used her as an example for “stupid people”
…back to bush and obama…
March 2, 2009 11:41 pm at 11:41 pm #642889squeakParticipantbecause she was so funny! Google the clip with her discussing the bailout, and why it is necessary (because it will make healthcare affordable for main street). That clip is a treat!

so its safe to say i wont win any arguments here
but i am a good judge of character
mr bush is clearly a man of rare integrity, one who makes his decisions based on the values he holds, and not on expediency
very unusual for a politician.
very important for a leader.
March 3, 2009 1:17 am at 1:17 am #642891JosephParticipantI completely concur with Feivel.
March 3, 2009 1:36 am at 1:36 am #642892moish01Membersqueak, thanks! i’m laughing i saw this a while ago and i just listened to it twice and i have no idea what the heck she’s talking about. maybe that’s just because i’m ignorant?? i guess that’s possible…
just by the way, to be fair, katie couric didn’t exactly make palin look great
March 3, 2009 2:02 am at 2:02 am #642893mw13Participantsammyjoe: I happen to think Bush was a great president, but even if you disagree, how does all this insulting him help anything?
March 3, 2009 3:04 am at 3:04 am #642894mazal77ParticipantSammyjoe- I think Bush knows and knew alot more things about the government then the public should have known. Please list any other government experience President Obama has. The new president has never served in any of the U.S. Military services. He will socialize the government, already happening with the banks. He will take away the right to bear arms, a right I think is very important. With Hilary Clinton, already giving 900, million dollars to re-build Gaza (as if this country can afford to do that) Do you know what that means??? If that money is used to re-build Gaza, do you think Americans will be happy to see Israelis try to defend themselves again by firing Misiles into American money built buildings in Gaza?? Unfortunately, I find most Americans to be very fickle and have no understanding of the Government and how things work. Oh, and I don’t listen to Talk Radio, so please don’t think I’ve been brainwashed. I am just wondering who shaped your opinions?? I think as Jews, we have bigger issues to worry about, then money. Because when it’s all said and done, We have Hashem to trust in and no other Government or institution will save us.
March 3, 2009 3:19 am at 3:19 am #642895squeakParticipantfeivel, ames, Joseph, others: I understand your position. Mr. Bush was indeed a man of rare integrity (for a politician) and he did indeed restore the White House from its status as a house of ill-repute. He was a man of conviction who appeared to always want to do the right thing. But I cannot think of a single thing that he did that was right, so despite his character and despite his integrity, I declare his presidency a disaster.
I’d be pleased to have him as a neighbor, and I’d probably be willing to lend him my car keys. But he should never have been in charge of anything more important than ordering dinner at a restaurant.
Anyway, never mind my opinion, because empirical facts show the damage that occurred during these past 8 years. Even those who refuse to see his faults will have to admit at some point that his strategery is what got us so deep into the mess we now find ourselves in.
Of course, it’s all Hashem.
March 3, 2009 3:29 am at 3:29 am #642896moish01Membersqueak, i hereby pronounce us friends 😉
March 3, 2009 3:55 am at 3:55 am #642898squeakParticipantLong have I awaited this happy news! By what means were you caused to arrive at this conclusion?
March 3, 2009 3:58 am at 3:58 am #642899moish01Memberwell if two frum(ish) yidden can agree that Bush is an idiot and got this country into a mess, i think it would be a waste for them to not form a friendship. don’t you say?
March 3, 2009 4:04 am at 4:04 am #642900mazal77ParticipantI think it was from agreeing that it’s all from Hashem, Moish.
March 3, 2009 4:16 am at 4:16 am #642901moish01Memberames, very funny. you know i still consider myself frum(ish). what else would you call me? not frum? maybe i’m not but i’m too involved in things to be “secular.” i live at home and most of my friends go to yeshiva and bais yakov. so what else would i call myself?
March 3, 2009 4:32 am at 4:32 am #642902RoshYeshivahMemberSqueak- If there’s anyway you can explain what bush has to do with the current situation you’re worth millions! Even our dear president couldn’t come up with concrete reasons. Most of us have forgotten rather fast that economy had it’s best times under the former president! The american economy in the first term of president bush was the envy of the world! With the help of hashem there hasn’t been a single terrorsist attack on american soil since 9/11.Now i don’t know where Mr obama lived when the twin towers came down but i do know that whatever strategy prevented further attacks on the good ppl of america i would continue to pursue and not try so hard to change it as we are seeing with the current president.Who is he doing a favor by releasing terrorsists who deserve never to see the light of day again?! I can’t see any problem president bush didn’t face adequately.
March 3, 2009 4:33 am at 4:33 am #642903moish01Memberok i REALLY don’t wanna discuss this right now. just mentioning that i never called myself frum either. just ish.
and this is waaay off topic. (i can’t imagine anything getting further.) just notice how it wasn’t ME who started it.
March 3, 2009 4:40 am at 4:40 am #642904moish01Memberrosh, you know how much the war in Iraq is costing? and on what grounds did they invade? because there MIGHT be something there? where exactly are the “weapons of mass destruction??” america never found any… so maybe they never were??

March 3, 2009 6:10 am at 6:10 am #642906JosephParticipantmoish, should we not take on Iran, since we are not certain Iran has or is building WMD? Maybe if we attack Iran we will end up finding out they in fact don’t have WMD.
Should we wait till we c’v see a mushroom cloud rising above an American city before we attack Iran?
March 3, 2009 3:05 pm at 3:05 pm #642907squeakParticipantRosh, I KNOW that I’m worth millions. What’s your point?
At some point, I might go into a lecture about how the W years put us in this mess, but it would be mighty technical (require some knowledge of macroeconomics) and long. Believe me, the pundits know this too, but it is difficult to deliver a message that will go right over the heads of the general public.

March 3, 2009 6:32 pm at 6:32 pm #642911moish01MemberAmes, k cool. because he doesn’t know how to read…
Joseph, don’t you know that America cares about the dollar more than anything else? How many Vietnams could we get ourselves into without destroying the economy? (Not that it isn’t already destroyed, but there’s always worse.)
You know what would happen if/when we invaded Iran? If they do have WMD (which they probably do) this country would be flattened before you could say “boo.” And if they don’t (which i highly doubt) it would never end. Because there’s no pulling out till the mission is over and if the mission is based on bogus then it’ll last forever.
Never mind that “bad economy” means “kick the Jews out.” That’s always how it is.
March 3, 2009 7:10 pm at 7:10 pm #642912squeakParticipantNow that we’re friends moish, will you invite me to play basketball? I’ll go easy on you, good buddy.

we’ll play alright, but i like football better, ok old man? (we had an awesome game this morning in the snow – it’s worth waking up in the AM for that ;))

moish & ames- I will not tolerate this talking behind my back…
It greatly saddens me to state that I disagree with my CR friends moish & squeak on this topic; and I actually fully agree with feivel, Joseph & Rosh Yeshiva.
PS- RY, well said
I probably couldn’t hold a solid argument with squeak on this (although I do have some close connections with a pro in macroeconomics), but my opinion remains strong.
March 3, 2009 8:45 pm at 8:45 pm #642915moish01Memberhey i’m convinced that:
- you people are all racists
- you’re just saying all that because it’s more frum to be republican. you don’t really feel strongly about any of it. take bush’s policies and put them into a democrat and you would all oppose the candidate.
it’s ok, i expect you all to blow up on me – i know you’re all gonna say that you’re not racist. i don’t buy it.

March 4, 2009 6:40 pm at 6:40 pm #642919RoshYeshivahMemberMoish when the terrorsists will check to make sure before they attack we’ll give them a chance.Untill then i think The us has no reason to double check on any POSSIBLE threat to OUR security! Btw bush had many other reasons to invade iraq.Number 1 being saadam was a mass murderer. But the biggest reason was to plant a democracy in the heart of the middle east.Unfortunately muslims untill now knew little more than they were taught which is that the west live in terrible conditions and prosecute the rest of the world.Nowdays muslims envy those fortunate to live in iraq which is now a stable country.Just recently an iraqi professor requested israel for israeli books because his students want to know more about what really goes on there! Same goes for afghanistan technology is up a few hundred percent they put their bored heads into iphones instead of terror into tv screens instead of hate! A very great achievement indeed! Alot of potential doctors and lawyers on now being breed on iraqi soil. These same children only a couple of years ago would’ve had only one future-TERROR!

when is america gonna learn to stop butting in to everyone else’s business?? all we did was add american soldiers to the list of casualties. and stable government? my foot. the second america pulls out it’s gonna be bedlam there.
the arabs aren’t scared of anymore. america is being fooled into thinking that they are still the ones in control. that’s my opinion, anyway.

March 4, 2009 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #642924yossieaParticipantAll Presidents from Carter on are to blame, but the bulk of the blame should be split between the people and the Congress. The President does not pass laws, the Congresscritters are the ones who do that. The CRA that Congress passed might’ve been the catalyst, but every Congress should share the blame. The problem with Obama is that his change he wants to implement is to turn this country into a new socialist country. Taking a look at Wall St. most capitalists don’t like the sound of that.

March 4, 2009 7:29 pm at 7:29 pm #642926moish01Memberwell that’s half of the reason why i say that you gotta be an idiot to even run. everyone else messes up and you get the blame. (i guess it’s good if you’re trying to work on your middos, but somehow i doubt that’s the case)

and speaking of socialism… hmmmm… sound like a good idea to me 😉

heck, i’m a communist and i’ve got friends who aren’t jewish and i still can’t say i don’t feel like i’m upper class. (in other words, yes i guess i am a little racist)

i just said that i have friends like that. and yeah, the cosby show is great. i’m sure any KKK members would laugh too if they sat down and watched it.
there’s no way you’re not prejudice. just from the way you’re talking. and i have nothing against a black person being president. not that i’m in love with obama, but i’m certain it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. (i could be fooling myself, but if i am, i’m doing a really good job.)
ok, how’s for a joke?
