    I’ve had the experience of viewing inappropriate imagery on a on videos or photos posted on YWN. Several of the Google generated ad’s were also inappropriate. Is the YWN intenet filter malfunctioning or has the criteria of what’s appropriate changed?

    Get an adblocker. You won’t see any ads at all. 🙂

    If you shopped for mens pants on macys, google will continue to show you ads for mens pants from macys ad meah viesrim. if you browsed other sites, you will get ads based on those sites. dont share your computer with someone who might browse, or shop at sites that are not appropriate for you. Get an ad blocker such as ad block plus. also, try to have all cookies and cache automatically cleared this helps mitigate many of the ads based on browsing history (it does not stop ads). Take your pc to tag and have a filter installed, even the lowest level filter will block just about every image and most objectionable content.

    Pardon my ignorance. Does YWN use Google ads? I was under the impression that YWN does not carry such advertising at all.

    There are other sites that do, and try their best to make sure that those with objectionable material do not appear. Yet, this effort is never perfect, and there can be occasional ads that are inappropriate. When that happens to a frum site, just inform the webmaster, and you will find they are glad to help and remove it.

    Yeshiva world news obviously allows Google to place ads on ads on their site. That is problematic because viewers are being exposed to inappropriate material. I will definitely look into an adblocker for android.
    Aside from Google ads, I have come across several instances of of pictures posted which included immodestly dressed women. Immodest according to all halachik authorities.
    Pictures of Nikki Haley are posted almost on a daily basis even though he neckline is too exposed according to halacha. There are many more examples. We have become so used to seeing pritzus in our lives it almost seems extreme to bring this up.

    YWN used to not have Google ads but has them now for over a year.

    The Aruch Hashulchan O”CH 75:7 allows davening infront of uncovered hair because we are used to it so it does not affect us and therefore there is no hirhur, but the MB 75:10 argues on it because two wrongs don’t make a right.

    The argument between the Aruch Hashulchan and MB above might depend if hair is hirhur or erva.
