I think this is a classic case of ‘lifnei iver lo titein michshal’, not to mention anti-semitism.
They entrap a scientist by posing as an Israeli agent? Why did they have to pick Israel, doesnt America have enough allies they could have chosen from?
Not to mention being machshil all those yidden during the nine days, Rachmono Litzlan!
October 20, 2009 4:01 am at 4:01 am #663370JosephParticipantGood Morning!
Which shaygetz isn’t anti-semitic?
October 20, 2009 4:20 am at 4:20 am #663371KtzoysMemberI still the chutzpa of the FBI here crossed the line. Haven’t we had enough bad press recently? From the way some of these other articles put it, you really have to be medayik to figure out it was an FBI agent posing as an Israeli.
October 20, 2009 4:23 am at 4:23 am #663372starwolfMemberI am sure that Joseph’s knowledge of non-Jewish people is so extensive that we should regard him as an authority on these matters.
October 20, 2009 4:42 am at 4:42 am #663373ronrsrMemberare we talking about a new actual case concerning the scientist at the Pentagon?
I can sum up the natural apprehension that the security establishment has regarding Jewish Scientists, in two words: Jonathan Pollard.

October 20, 2009 4:45 am at 4:45 am #663374ronrsrMemberit happened before, and it can happen again. They’re right, sadly.
October 20, 2009 1:18 pm at 1:18 pm #663375Just-a-guyMemberJoseph- when YWN posts photos of all the gatherings and ceremonies that the citizens of BP and Williamsburg, etc., have with the NYPD, FDNY, etc., and they show nice photos of Yidden shaking hands with Irish, Italian, Black and Hispanic police and such, should those people all believe that we really think that deep down you’re an anti-semite and this little ceremony where we give you a plaque is just a sham to get you to help us out, but we believe that deep down each one of you is our enemy, no matter how many good things you do to help us- is that what’s really going on?
I don’t thinks so, but if that is the case, then I think you shouldn’t post things like what you wrote on the internet, lest they figure it out.
Besides, doesn’t your hero Rush Limbaugh love the frum yidden? What about Giuliani?
October 20, 2009 1:20 pm at 1:20 pm #663376Just-a-guyMemberWhy is it wrong for an FBI agent to pose an Israeli in order to catch a gentile American who is willing to sell out American secrets for money?
Can someone explain it to me in rational terms?
October 20, 2009 2:08 pm at 2:08 pm #663377tzippiMemberTo Just a guy, what gets me nervous (and for some reason my comments aren’t going through on the homepage, despite repeated attempts at contacting via the homepage) is that there has apparently been a long term follow up and fear of selling out to Israel. This shows how Jews are viewed, for better or worse, true or not. And I have to wonder if similar efforts are made in other communities, vis a vis other countries (not necessarily so friendly).
October 20, 2009 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm #663379JosephParticipantjag – Never called Rush my hero (comparatively, to other shkotzim he is good); and Giuliani certainly never was. You should read my old comments about Giuliani both right here in the CR and on the main site.
BTW few shkotzim know that they are a sheigetz.
October 20, 2009 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm #663380Just-a-guyMemberJoseph- glad to see we’re in agreement regarding Rush (somewhat) and Giuliani (as well as the purpose of wearing black and white, see, some other thread), but you still haven’t answered my question- are the police and firefighters and other who attend these ceremonies that YWN photographs and covers supposed to understand that the Jewish position is that every gentile is an anti-semite?
October 20, 2009 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #663381JosephParticipantIf cameras had been invented, you would see show nice photos of Yidden shaking hands with many shady characters throughout our history. We must deal with everyone we encounter to some extent. I’m not necessarily comparing the NYPD and FDNY to any of those, just making a larger point.
Do you think when these officers are in the bar or privacy of their clubs they are complimenting us?
I did appreciate your comments on the shirts, hat, jacket, thread!
October 20, 2009 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #663382tzippiMemberTo Just a guy: no no no. Every gentile is a POTENTIAL anti semite, just like every Jew is a POTENTIAL spy.
October 20, 2009 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm #663383Just-a-guyMember“Do you think when these officers are in the bar or privacy of their clubs they are complimenting us?”
I think (and my thinking is based on working with police in my professional capacity, and counting one goyische police officer as a personal friend (no, I don’t eat in his house or attend his church)) that a few of them who’ve patrolled a Jewish neighborhood for a longtime have a certain admiration for the community and way of life, others are wholly indifferent and don’t compliment or denigrate us one way or the other, and then a third group dislikes us. Of course, the size of this third group would increase in size if they came to believe that every time a Jew thanks them and gives them a plaque and applauds their work with their community, the Jew is really thinking to himself, I hope this dumb goyische kup is falling for this, as I know he’d just as soon stab me in the back, but until Moschiach comes, I need his protection, so I hope he doesn’t catch on to how false this whole charade is.
October 20, 2009 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #663384JosephParticipantjustaguy – I think we do a pretty good job making sure they don’t think that.

October 20, 2009 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm #663386Just-a-guyMemberJoseph- fair enough, but I do my part to get them to not think that by not actually thinking that.
To get back on track, nobody has explained to me why this action is anti-semitic. If an FBI agent investigating trafficking in weapons poses as a Russian gangster who’d like to buy weapons, is that anti-Russian?
If the possible anti-semitism depends on an assumption that an Israeli looking to buy secrets would be believable, I think you’re reaching. Everyone knows that Israeli’s are players in the international spy game- the operation cleverly played on the gentile scientists belief that Israeli’s might plausibly be interested in paying him.

It is not wrong, it is excellent and necessary counterintelligence.
Israel is a prime candidate for “False-Flag” recruiting of agents, since they are perceived as a friendly country, and even beloved to most American Jews.
While most American scientists wouldn’t even consider working for Russia or Al-Qaeda, some might consider helping out Israel a bit. This opens them up to False-Flag recruiting by evil powers.
(e.g. of false-flag recruitment: Let’s say Al-Qaeda had an operative who was an Arab-Israeli, grew up in Israel, looked Israeli and spoke Hebrew perfectly. They used him to recruit an American defense scientist by convincing the scientist that he was working for the Israelis. Ok, he says, the Israelis are friendly, so I’ll hand over a few nuclear secrets to help them out. But, in fact, he is really handing over secrets to an evil enemy.)
