Nikon WAS the top of the line in the days of film.
Now, in the age of digital photography, I would recommend you go with the Canon brand.
most photographers use brands that thier teachers use!
if the teacher uses Nikon, generally the student buys the same, if teacher uses cannon, so does the student
they are both great brands
