May 27, 2019 7:10 am at 7:10 am #1733302oyyoyyoyParticipantgreat stuff but as i saw the more recent ones i realized the force was kinda a religion/ A”Z
May 27, 2019 7:11 am at 7:11 am #1733327yossi greasmanParticipantit is iser diyorayso to read star wars
May 27, 2019 7:12 am at 7:12 am #1733367DovidBTParticipantNo, because the Jedi never say a blessing before using The Force™.
May 27, 2019 9:40 am at 9:40 am #1733420👑RebYidd23ParticipantThe Force is not a religion. The Jedi are, and a pretty messed up one.
May 27, 2019 10:31 am at 10:31 am #1733461HeargodParticipantThere is preetzious in the movies and non Jewish entertainment is not good for the soul
There are plenty of Jewish novels to read and if you want I believe there are some charedi TV shows and movies in Hebrew from Israel.
You don’t know Hebrew? Shame on you🤣May 27, 2019 10:40 am at 10:40 am #1733479☕️coffee addictParticipantSo basically Darth Vader went off the derech?
May 27, 2019 10:41 am at 10:41 am #1733477Sam KleinParticipantAll movies are goyish and assur especially when it’s not tznius and we have a chiyuv d’oraisa-straight from the torah-to be mechanech our children on the right path of Judaism (v’shinantam l’vanecha…..) movies , goyish books and goyish music etc…. (which a lot of today’s Jewish music we know are copied straight from the goyim) is not the way to raise a Torah frum family.
May 27, 2019 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #1733761The AlterParticipantThe jedi don’t believe that the force is a supreme being they just believe that the maker uses a force to rule and govern the world. Kind of like the coach hatahorah. The dark side is just like the coach hatumma. The jedi are trying to harness the power of the light side, not worship it.
May 27, 2019 10:53 pm at 10:53 pm #1733775👑RebYidd23ParticipantThe idea that the light side is good and the dark side is bad comes from the Jedi.
May 27, 2019 11:05 pm at 11:05 pm #1733780The AlterParticipantSo?
May 28, 2019 12:09 am at 12:09 am #1733790klugeryidParticipantThe idea that the light side is good and the dark side is bad comes from the Jedi.
I don’t know anything about star wars but this is just wrong
All over צד הטוב נקרא אור וצד הקליפות נקרא חושךMay 28, 2019 1:30 am at 1:30 am #1733797👑RebYidd23ParticipantAnd who decided which side should be called the dark side and which side should be called the light side?
May 28, 2019 2:57 am at 2:57 am #1733808ZSKParticipantWhy on earth not?
May 28, 2019 3:02 am at 3:02 am #1733774Yserbius123ParticipantExcuse me? The Force not a religion? Please allow me to quote from the canonical Fourth Movie in which Admiral Tarkin speaks with Darth Vader and refers to said Force as (and I quote) “hokey religions”.
May 28, 2019 11:02 am at 11:02 am #1733901Avi KParticipantMod, why did you delete my comment about Elisha ben Abuya? Is not discussing him a new chumra?
May 28, 2019 11:02 am at 11:02 am #1733905Avi KParticipantC A, DV was a talmid who delved to deeply into the Force and was trapped by the Dark (Other) Side. It would be interesting to know if there was others. Perhaps one died and another went insane.
Yserbius, Obi-Wan Kenobi describes the Force as “an energy field created by all living things” in Star Wars. In The Phantom Menace, Qui-Gon Jinn says microscopic lifeforms called midi-chlorians, which exist inside all living cells, allow some characters to be Force-sensitive; characters must have a high enough midi-chlorian count to feel and use the Force [Wikipedia]. This sounds like a scientific principle to me.
May 28, 2019 11:02 am at 11:02 am #1733907catch yourselfParticipantIf you listen to many of the Chassidishe Maiselach, the Ba’al Shem Tov sounds like a Jedi, complete with force projection.
So maybe Yoda was the Frierdik’e Rebbe?May 28, 2019 11:02 am at 11:02 am #1733926👑RebYidd23ParticipantSo something being referred to as a religion makes it one?
May 28, 2019 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #1734031oyyoyyoyParticipantI know in recent one the bad guy davened to darth vaders helmet. Im not a baki, don’t remmbr exactly what it was that made me feel it was A”Z, the friend i was with agreed with me that our younger brains may have missed that
May 28, 2019 3:19 pm at 3:19 pm #1734080DovidBTParticipantThis sounds like a scientific principle to me.
That’s the same argument that atheists use to attack religion.
May 28, 2019 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #1734133Captain™ParticipantWhats the problem of watching/ reading stuff about other religions?
If the problem is having hana’a from a”z, I can understand. But if its a religion that everybody agrees is not real, is it even considered a”z?
If its because people might start believing in it, I highly doubt that any one actually believes in the Force.
Captain™
May 28, 2019 4:51 pm at 4:51 pm #1734143Captain™ParticipantPeople read the new testament and the quran in order to show how its false. Why is that mutar?
If it is mutar, are they allowed to enjoy it?
Why cant someone watch Star Wars and do the same thing?
Captain™
May 28, 2019 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm #1734180oyyoyyoyParticipantIDK halacha, but i assume that reading those fictions to show theyre false (which im sure some say you shouldnt, and if youre young i doubt anyone would be pro) is because of Da Ma LHashiv Lapikores. I dont know if they can enjoy it.
Regardless, noone is doing that with star wars.
May 28, 2019 11:38 pm at 11:38 pm #1734433👑RebYidd23ParticipantThe Jedi are a fictional religion. Within the work of fiction they reside in, the Force is real, but the principles of the Jedi belief system are not. To believe the the Force exists outside of Star Wars is not avoda zara, it is extremely foolish mistaken science. (Within Star Wars, the Force is demonstrably real and its existence is generally not questioned.)
July 5, 2019 10:59 am at 10:59 am #1753041YeshivishrockstarParticipantHow about Lego Star Wars? Is that OK?
July 5, 2019 11:52 am at 11:52 am #1753057Yserbius123Participant@Yeshivishrockstar if LEGO Star Wars is a problem, I will have a lot of angry children and nephews on my hands. None of them have watched or read anything Star Wars related, but they can tell you with absolute certainty how many minifigures come with the Death Star and how many radar dishes are on the Millennium Falcon.
July 10, 2019 12:41 pm at 12:41 pm #1756438☢️ Rand0m3x 🎲ParticipantToys For Thought have had good business selling Star Wars Lego sets to Lakewood residents. 🙂
January 26, 2020 11:40 pm at 11:40 pm #1826255JzqParticipantThe 4th is completely clean it is questionable after that
