According to the shiur I heard by Rabbi Mendel Kessin, the world is supposed to be at its completion in 229 years( 6000). There is a lot that needs to happen before that time( a lot that Moshiach needs to do) and also 2 moshiachs( Ben Yosef and Ben Dovid). Lets hope he comes today.

Huh? Check your siddur, Ani Maamin, # 12.

    Moshiach now!

    #801184

the question is, do you all feel ready for moshiach? I’m personally afraid… Even though I pray and hope he comes soon, cuz don’t feel worth to be from those zochah. as you know will be a sifting process…

80- he said that “the world has to be at its completion” i.e. over by the year 6000, not that Moshiach has to come by that time(of course to come to its completion he has to come), but it has to be a while before that because there is a lot that is supposed to happen. At the year 6000, this world ends and Hoalam Haba begins.

It appears that we are living in the “end of days”. Moshiach’s arrival feels imminent to me.

My Rosh Yshivah taught us that we shouldn’t orient our ovodas hashem around mashiach. We need to keep 613 regardless of whether or not he is “almost here” or not.

sorry I couldn’t respond sooner, I’ve been really busy

your first statement on your first post was

Before you know it, and when you least expect it.

if that’s true then saying I’m packed and ready to go. means you are always expecting him ergo he will never come

Mods – any reason you didn’t let my post go through? i tried twice.

    1. It had a link and an email address. 2. It was very long. -95

“means you are always expecting him ergo he will never come”

“Awaiting and expecting are not the same thing”

Maybe a better word is “anticipating”

Either way, what I meant is, I have little holding me back in the material world that would not make me thrilled to hear that galus is over.

    I’m ready at a moment’s notice.

Are you really ready? Ready to leave your house/apartment? Ready to leave your business? Ready to leave your car? Ready to leave your bank account? Ready to miss your vacation? Do you have suitable clothes to wear to greet Moshiach?

    Be Happy,

I was going to say along the same lines that “are you ready to leave the CR”

    Be Happy –

My car, house, clothes, line of work, ect are all things that I simply use to reach the goal I set for myself; building a family and racking up mitzvos.

Once Moshiach arrives, I’ll have no need for the tools. That’s when its time to see how well I scored.

The basic steps of Mashiach and beyond:

1 – Mashiach comes before the year 6000, with enough time to have a bunch of festivals as is clearly stated by many commentaries dealing with how certain festivals will or won’t be celebrated in the times of Mashiach.

2 – The yearr 6000, the physical universe goes kaboom, and all humanity “dies” so to speak.

3 – The next 1000 years HASHEM creates a new world that will be Olam Haba.

    4 – Year 7000 – Olam Haba starts.

5 – Year 8000 – New things are introduced (see weird seforim for more details. Disclaimer: you won’t understand a word of it.)

“Once Moshiach arrives, I’ll have no need for the tools.”

Even after Mashiach arrives, we will still be doing mitzvos. Mashiach is not gan eden or olam haba (two very different things in their own right.)

At the year 6000, this world ends and Hoalam Haba begins.

Obviously only Hashem knows for sure, but I think at the end of 6,000 years is chad charuv and then olam habah.

True. But its doubtful I’ll need an Acura MXD or a vacation home to do so.

Lucky for me, I attached to neither, so as I stated earlier, I’m ready as soon as I hear the shoifar blow!

Halevai!!! But we do not display the ahavas yisroel necessary. We do not have the Yiras Shamayim necessary and we do not do the Teshuva necessary. Moshiach may be ready, willing and able, but WE are not ready to accept him.

Funny story from the mouths of babes…..about a week after shiva I was bubbysitting for my daughter. When I walked in my four year old runs over to me and says “Bobby, my mommy is so sad because her bobby died, we all miss Bobby Munci so much!” then my then 5 year old granddaughter says “Hush silly, thats Bobby’s mommy” so the 4 year old says “Don’t worry Bobby, when Moshiach comes she will be undead!” Where do they get this from?????

I feel like Moshiach is coming….no jokes! Its just that the change of weather is not normal anymore and its raining and windy now. I just feel like Hashem is crying with us and realizes that we cannot go on this way anymore.

yeah, I’ve been feeling that way for years

Speaking of weather, the other week there was a storm consisting of “tea-cup sized hail”, as in ICE in AUGUST, that fell on the communities roughly along the Queens-Nassau border.

China today had sustained 60+ ft waves that threatened a chemical plant that, it seems, they’re scrambling to keep safe.

Not to mention Japan’s 1-2 knockout punch earlier in the year.

And on a different note, the relatively vast number of roshei yeshiva who recently joined the Yeshiva shel maalah, as well as the young kadosh vitahor tinok shel beis rabban Leiby A”H who did as well.

Lihavdil, the general economic situation/depression and now the “threat of default” nonsense that just ate up more millions of dollars of people’s money…it’s hard to imagine that such things could not have been prevented and/or at least nipped in the bud. But they weren’t and here we are.

And in Israel, supposedly not so hard hit by this “recession”, even working people with decent salaries can’t pay their rents and have taken to the street to emphasize that.

The umos haOlam obviously don’t get it, of course, and, in truth, nobody other than a navi knows what Hashem’s reasons are, but if one had to speculate, one might think that while the umos are busy upending the natural order of the world by turning upside down the definition of marriage to include kesivas kesuba lizachar, about which that is their only zechus for kiyum as Chazal have said, (not to mention their general descent into ever more brazen and deeper immorality) Hashem has inflicted massive physical upheavals to the natural order, most easily seen in the major weather-related anomalies.

And the riots in London that have spread to neighborhoods where acheinu binei Yisrael are living.

This is all (both individually and together in the broad picture) very, very, very much not normal.

May we all be zoche to the geulah sheleimah BB”A.
