I found a shadchan in my area, yay!

I found the number on a shadchan list online. He is a LOR. I sent him an email saying that I am interested in working with a shadchan.

Let’s say he responds to the email. Then what? I really want help and need direction here, but I also want to ensure that I am putting myself in a healthy and good situation with this person of whom I would be trusting and revealing intimate details about myself with and who would be sharing that with potential mates.

How do I find out more about the shadchan? Can I interview him? Interview others? Is that going to come across as chutzpah to him?

    Thanks! 🙂

Rewind. Okay I know someone who knows him! So from Hashem and totally unexpected so all is good 🙂

Also found a super insightful deep beautiful article that his wife wrote in a publication.

Makes me feel good and the truth here is that Hashem is in charge so I have to use my intuition as best as I can and let the shadchan b’esrat Hashem help me on this journey.

Thanks for letting me process this all out in words here 🙂

When I was dating, I used to be disturbed when a total stranger would sometimes call me up, saying she/he was a shadchan, and would want to set me up- not knowing me, what i was looking for, and would be vague about where she/he even got my name from. I would not use the services of a lawyer, real estate agent, psychologist etc without a recommendation that the person is competent and fits my need, so how much more so a shadchan!
I don’t think it would be proper to interview him in person, but for sure before you agree to meet him and “hear” proposals from him, find out about him, what is track record is, what type of people he knows, how easy it is to talk to him, etc. You can ask this person you know these questions.
