Oxford (or virtually any insurance carrier) charges a different deductible amount to different customers. So you are paying a higher deductible than many other Oxford insurance customers. The amount of your deductible is based on what your employer (or whoever setup your insurance plan) negotiated with Oxford.
Insane deductibles usually work in an inverse proportion to premiums paid. Before comparing your high deductible plan to someone elses lower deductible plan, compare the premiums you both pay.
Is the deductible very high, which usually results in premiums being artificially low? You pay less for the policy, and the policy is covering less.
Is the deductible insanely low, which usuaully results in premiums being artificially high? You pay lots up front for the policy, and the policy covers more.
But it really has nothing to do with insanity, unless your question is about mental health exclusions.
