aussie: sadly, in our world today THAT quote at least is backwards. We have to never let our learning get in the way of our education.
And I thought I was being so subtle…….

Actually, what I said is as pro torah as you can get.
moish, I certainly didn’t mean to let SECULAR education come before TORAH learning. What I meant was that learning should not be about covering ground (e.g. I learn for 12 hours a day, so I am the best) but about becoming educated in the ways of the Torah – its writ, its applications and guidelines, and its relevance. Far be it from me to push my personal hashkofos on anyone here. I am merely saying that the term “learning” is far too shallow to apply to Torah.
