aussie: sadly, in our world today THAT quote at least is backwards. We have to never let our learning get in the way of our education.
March 23, 2009 12:31 am at 12:31 am #1084061squeakParticipantAnd I thought I was being so subtle…….
March 23, 2009 12:47 am at 12:47 am #1084062moish01Memberlooks like aussie’s more pro torah than squeak is.
I never let my SECULAR education get in the way of my TORAH learning.
right, auss?
March 23, 2009 2:23 am at 2:23 am #1084064squeakParticipantActually, what I said is as pro torah as you can get.
March 23, 2009 2:37 am at 2:37 am #1084065squeakParticipantmoish, I certainly didn’t mean to let SECULAR education come before TORAH learning. What I meant was that learning should not be about covering ground (e.g. I learn for 12 hours a day, so I am the best) but about becoming educated in the ways of the Torah – its writ, its applications and guidelines, and its relevance. Far be it from me to push my personal hashkofos on anyone here. I am merely saying that the term “learning” is far too shallow to apply to Torah.
