My daughter is currently filling out applications for seminary and they are asking for her passport # and her SS # as well as all her medical information. I would really rather not provide this information (especially the passport and SS #s) to all the seminaries she’s applying to – only to the one she actually lands up going to. Is there any reason they would need this information before she’s even accepted?
They check with Dor Yesharim to make sure she’s compatible.

I don’t think you need to include those things. I think you should leave it blank and send it to the one she goes to. I think it’s the line between application and registration.
That’s insane. Don’t give it. Just write “see attached”, and then write an addendum that you will be happy to provide that info upon matriculation.
A basic idea of her, they definitely need, but all the rest you can do as pupa said.
You need to include it. This is all part of the entrance test. They ask you to give private unnecessary information to see if you are a lemming and will blindly follow whatever the seminary says. If you don’t put in the information they won’t accept you.
make them up. i was always told it is better to guess than to leave the line blank. try 012-10-9812 for ss# and #%%&!!@#)&^$u for the passport id number. do you think they are connected to some national database that verifies every ss# and passport? in fact, i think this is a plus, it shows resourcefulness.
Good idea. Just make it up. What they don’t know can’t hurt them.
I’m a lemming and I did put up my SSN, but I didn’t do my passport number for the single reason that I just got a new passport after losing it.
What I don’t get is all the random stuff like education, etc. My mom was trying to figure out why on Earth I needed to know the year she finished grad school. That I did make up.
I also had about a line to give all my talents, hobbies and awards. How could they even imagine that the kind of mailosdikke girl they’re trying to attract would only have enough kishronos to fit on that pitzy little line?
