yitayningwut – “So I was at Dunkin Donuts in Todd Plaza yesterday”

Did it become kosher yet (under a Hechsher -supposedly KOA)?

Come on over everyone. I just started an enormous jar of Kirkland double dipped, milk chocolate peanuts. They are yummy, but if nobody comes to help me eat them, I will have to finish them by myself -and it is a really, really big jar – 1.25 kg.

At KFC they do chicken right. There used to be a Kosher one in Mivaseret. Too bad it’s gone. Good stuff.

Here’s some more food: burger, fries, hot dogs, pickles, (parve) ice cream, cholent, kugel, stella d’oro swiss fudge cookies! (No stella d’oro during aseres y’mei tshuva)

Sorry I didn’t notice this thread earlier. I went in a few days ago and they said all the food is kosher but their waiting for one piece of equipment before they get their certification. I’m on the other side of town now but bli Neder I’ll check for you soon and post my findings. I should have an answer within the hour.

Indeed, I just checked and there is a notice of certification on the door from the KOA. It says that the products are certified kosher dairy – not CY. There is also another sign which says that there are heimishe brands of milk, cheese, cream cheese, tuna, and egg salad available upon request.

DD is not the perfect cup of coffee. It is sometimes the most convenient though.

First of all, I don’t drink coffee. I want to go there for the food and mainly the Donuts!

Second – What’s iffy about it?

    adorable-

I don’t understand you. On the bad psak thread you clearly believe that no harm can befall someone who follows their rav’s psak. Yet here you call it iffy. Don’t you think that if my rav tells me there’s nothing wrong with eating at DD I have nothing to worry about?

yitayningwut: You took the reverse position on the bad psak thread. So going with that, adorable’s point has merit, since perhaps you received a bad psak.

    shlishi-

Lol, I was just pointing out that it seemed inconsistent. But ostensibly you are right that from my perspective it is a valid point.

However, the truth is I tried to make myself clear over there that I believe very much on relying on a rav, as I have recommended to many posters in the past. I do believe that a rav can make a mistake and that he does not definitively establish halacha, but at the same time we have every right to follow a rav and rely on him, and we shouldn’t be overly obsessive and worry that he might be making a mistake, even though it’s possible. That is my answer to adorable’s point from my perspective.

Actually if I would live where you live, I’d be more scared to buy from a “Frum” establishment. I’ve heard a story there in a pizza shop that the guy was using Treif cheese and was closed down. And of couse the chicken man.

Goyim are more scared to trick the Rabbi.

mod42 its not so pashut that you cant have stella dora cookies during aseres yimei tshuva, bec its true that the achronim say you should be machmir not like the rama (who permits pas palter even in a place that pas yisroel is available) during aseres yimei tshuva; however, even the Mechaber himself holds that “b’makom sh’ein pas yisroel yafa k’shel palter” one is allowed to eat pas palter. therefore eating stella dora cookies [which certainly is yafa m’shel yisroel 🙂 ] is mutar according to the mechaber all year round and therefore muttar during aseres yimei tshuva. Please nobody take this as a psak because this halacha is not pashut- some achronim hold that during aseres yimei tshuva we should even be more machmir than the mechabers psak all year round (see Darkei Tshuva 112:28). consult your Rav!

Chacham – It’s RABBI Issacson; unless your talking about his sons in Lakewood. He’s a Rov in Passaic on the same street as the Yeshiva. They have a website for you to get info -google K.O.A. or Kashrus something.

yitayningwut- I dont know what ur issue with with what I said. I dont believe there is any rav thats going to tell you that you SHOULD eat there. I dont think that you are going to fry in hell for eating there. but why do you have to?

But my rav said there’s nothing to worry about, so why should I worry? That was his psak so why should I look at it like it’s iffy?

adorable -Does Monsey have a kosher DDs?

Btw, this isn’t Lakewood’s first kosher DDs. There was one in Howell on the corner of Alexander, right before Midas. They got a hechsher from Tesser (or Tessler) (LKO), for a short while, but they took it off. They aren’t there any more, either they moved or closed down.
