I love these women threads, thanks Mods. Here goes, if you were buying a sheitel now, which sheitel would you buy, where would you buy it, and who would do the cut? Brooklyn preferred.
No Hashkafic or other lectures please. There are other threads for that.

January 31, 2011 5:10 am at 5:10 am #733698smartcookieMemberBy now I would probably go for those colorful clown sheitels. They come precut, with lots of curls.
100 percent synthetic. Great quality. Lasts about 20 yrs.

January 31, 2011 5:27 am at 5:27 am #733700always hereParticipantthe last ones I bought for myself, my kallah daughter, my kallah daughter-in-law, & my married daughter were from Milano, Ave. I & MacDonald, when they had sales; they did the cuts. we all love Liz @ Ben Simon’s on Ave. P for re-stylngs/re-dos.

The hairs on it feel very soft. I purchased it by my Shaitel Macher. Her name is Bella Klein. She calls her Co. BK Wigs. She’s an Israeli woman-she’s really very nice. She cuts & styles very well. As far as her prices, I can’t say only cause it’s hard to compare with other people who are in the line. I haven’t been to that many places so I wouldn’t be able to tell you if she’s cheaper than anyone else. She’s located in Boro Park on 55th Street Bet. 18th & 19th Ave. If you’re asking because you want to actually purchase a new one for yourself, then maybe first ask other people about her & then if you’re satisfied w/ what you hear, I can give you her number.

Friends have told me Milano and Freeda are great quality too.
January 31, 2011 2:51 pm at 2:51 pm #733703OfcourseMemberIve heard that Milano isnt as good as it used to be. I’ve heard of 2 places that let you walk away from a Sheitel purchase if you’re not happy- Tori Wigs and Fortune Wigs (Tobias). Ive heard they really try to please. What are everyone’s experiences with those two?
Who would you all use for the cut, when the seller doesnt cut, or you want a great cut? Are the people who charge hundreds for a cut (250-400 for the cut alone!!!)worth it? Ive heard many say yes, that the cut is as important as the quality of the Sheitel and they’d pay hundreds again to cut a new sheitel.
January 31, 2011 3:51 pm at 3:51 pm #733704ProfessionalMemberif you see someone wearing a beautiful sheitel, ask them where they got it and how happy they are with it, that is best way. you have to like the appearance, and you can be the only judge. asking strangers? who says you like what they wear?
Not all Shevys are good quality. Ask, ask ask.
One more thing: ask the person if she needed any service after the purchase, how easy it was to get to the seller. A Kalla friend bought a new expensive one from someone who sold her a nice shaitel, and did a fine job styling, and promised to be available during sheva brachos for touch ups. it has been 2 yrs and she still didnt return any of the calls and msgs with kids etc. Collecting 3.5k was quick, anything after was impossible. so ask in advance.
