I’d say:”Thank you for Tehilim…it’s like the MUHN(manna)-whatever situation I’m in,the words always fit perfectly!”
January 5, 2011 3:25 pm at 3:25 pm #725746bptParticipantDon’t go out to the ladder… its a trap!
January 5, 2011 3:39 pm at 3:39 pm #725747deiyezoogerMemberi dont think ill ever get a chance to do that im not that big yet on that madrega yet maybe one day……
January 5, 2011 4:27 pm at 4:27 pm #725748Derech HaMelechMemberAssuming I’m not a quivering lump of flesh trembling in fear on the ground, I’d probably be asking him to daven for me and eitzos for me and mine to grow.
January 5, 2011 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #725749jewish sourceParticipantZaidy can you teach me Torah please
January 5, 2011 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #725750TheGoqParticipantI’d say thank you and Yohonoson ben Shaul for displaying the beauty of true friendship
January 5, 2011 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #725751Y.W. EditorKeymasterHagon Rav Shmuel Berenbaum (whose yartzheit was yesterday) was asked a week before he was Niftar:
“You have said thousands of shiurim on Rav Akiva Eiger’s in your life….what will you say to him when you meet him in Shomayim?”
His (exact) response: “Say to Rav Akiva Eiger?! Are you nuts?! I will be instantly burnt up to a crisp from his kedusha!!”.
And you guys are talking about Dovid Hamelech?
What a childish question.
January 5, 2011 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #725752lkwdfellowMemberY.W. Editor – although this is a great story – I highly doubt that Harav Shmuel ZT”L said – “Are you nuts?!” I think that he wouldn’t have used such a loshon.
January 5, 2011 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm #725753popa_bar_abbaParticipantCan I have a position in your administration?
January 5, 2011 5:38 pm at 5:38 pm #725754bptParticipantBurnt to a crisp?
Perhaps. But I’m willing to bet that there will be a line of gedolim and rebbes zaides and babbis who will be waiting to greet the new arrivals and ask them, “how were you able to withstand the nisyonos you did, back there on earth”
No one denies the greatness of the previous generation. And the very fact that someone would create a thread like like, speaks volumes about our generation.
Did I make a wise-crack? Yes. Does that mean I’m disrespectful of our previous generation? Does that mean I’m unaware of the gap between us and them?
Not in my opinion. Humor (sarcastic or otherwise) is how some people deal with stressfull situations.
January 5, 2011 5:48 pm at 5:48 pm #725755Y.W. EditorKeymasterlkwdfellow – His very exact words in yiddish were “Bist du meshuga”.
I heard this with my own ears.
We know…it’s hard for a Lakewood person to hear such “nivul peh” like those words uttered by the gadol hador….
Have a great day.
January 5, 2011 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm #725756lkwdfellowMemberY.W. Editor – “Bist du meshuga” is a bit different than “are you nuts”. I assumed you heard it from him & that’s why I wanted to get an exact loshon. But thanks for the knock on Lakewood…
January 5, 2011 5:56 pm at 5:56 pm #725757Y.W. EditorKeymasterpopa, what administration?
January 5, 2011 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #725758popa_bar_abbaParticipantHe was a king. He had officers who were in charge of all sorts of functions.
I am sure there were some good career opportunities.
January 5, 2011 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #725759Avram in MDParticipantAnd you guys are talking about Dovid Hamelech?
What a childish question.
Why is it a childish question? We have the opportunity to speak to Hashem every day. Thinking of the fear of approaching one of our gedolim from previous generations can help us approach our tefillos with a more proper mindset.
January 5, 2011 5:59 pm at 5:59 pm #725760Be HappyParticipantPLEASE: Do what you can, and help to bring Moshiach.
January 5, 2011 6:03 pm at 6:03 pm #725761blueprintsParticipantBe happy:
I assume if you’re speaking to dovid hamelech then moshiach has already come hence techias hameisim
January 5, 2011 6:13 pm at 6:13 pm #725762aries2756ParticipantWhat could I say, Please bentch me to go in your path and be worthy of Moshiach.
January 5, 2011 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #725763deiyezoogerMemberahah is that what you meant? a person should say tehillim every min of your day, and feel like they are talking to dovid hamelech? or is it about him? we thought we were talking to hashem when take out our tehillim for “help” ??? alittle confused!
January 5, 2011 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #725764eclipseMemberY.W.EDITOR…did you approve the post in order to call it “a childish question”?

Although I thought his comment was uncalled for, in all fairness, YW-Editor probably didn’t approve the OP — it was probably one of the moderators.

January 6, 2011 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm #725770Dovid HaMelechMemberI felt I could not leave my people hanging so long. So here I am (for the next 60 seconds.) I’m all ears!
After that time frame, I hereby appoint popa_bar_abba as my Chief of Staff. Please direct all further inquires to him – effective 61 seconds from now.
January 6, 2011 5:16 pm at 5:16 pm #725771OfcourseMemberId ask Dovid Hamelech to divulge and clarify the part of the Torah that solves the Shidduch crisis- Hafoch Ba V Hafoch Ba D Kula Ba.
I chose that crisis over others because with health crises- no one lives forever, with financial crises, I feel the misery involved doesnt cause the kind of heartbreaking pain as the Shidduch Crisis does, which exists in a very great percentage of Litvish homes, probably more widespread than the other crises.
January 6, 2011 5:32 pm at 5:32 pm #725772eclipseMemberofCourse…Tehilim is the best recourse…because no matter WHAT the official current crisis is,Hashem can do ANYTHING for ANYONE at any time.
January 6, 2011 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm #725773OfcourseMembereclipse, without question Hashem is “Hakol Yachol”, Id just love to hear what the solution is. Possibly, the Klal is doing something wrong which allows the Shidduch crisis to continue for many years and doesnt realize how to alleviate it without someone of the Gadlus of Dovid Hamelech to spell it out to us. Perhaps it would be easily remediated with Hashems help, with the Klal’s Hishtadlus.
January 6, 2011 7:09 pm at 7:09 pm #725774mikehall12382MemberThank him for showing us that even when we fall, teshuvah is always possible…
January 7, 2011 4:06 am at 4:06 am #725776illogicgalMemberso, where’d you learn to write poetry?
January 7, 2011 1:34 pm at 1:34 pm #725778ItcheSrulikMemberI would ask: NU?!
(Before everyone jumps down my throat, kim’at every single chassidishe rebbe of the first two or three generations said the same thing.)
January 7, 2011 1:50 pm at 1:50 pm #725779Aishes ChayilParticipant‘Burnt up to a crisp’
Did you ever hear MBD’s classic ‘Someday….’?
‘Avrohom and Yitzchock will be ther to greet us……’
I’m sure that song was not composed without accuracy as I am sure was Rav Berenbaum’s speech .
Can someone pls explain the discrepency?
January 7, 2011 3:01 pm at 3:01 pm #725781apushatayidParticipantPlease daven for moshiach.
January 7, 2011 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #725782ItcheSrulikMemberAishes Chayil: both are lav davka.
January 7, 2011 6:58 pm at 6:58 pm #725783bptParticipantFunny you should mention MBD, because just yesterday, I was thinking about how, in his intro to “Refuge” Matisyahu talks about Dovid Ha’melech, and his relationship with the people of his day (and by extension, how he relates to us / us to him)
One line in particular stood out; “He loved the people and the people loved him.”
I don’t think the Avos are looking to hurt us. Not to say, we need to make t-shirts about them, but I think they’ll be happy to see us (as we will them)
January 7, 2011 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #725784ronrsrMemberhow DID you get those Philistines to give you their foreskins?
