Any ideas for an anniversary present that can be bought/made without spending more than $15?
December 18, 2008 2:34 pm at 2:34 pm #628141mdlevineMemberGood question! I am going to follow this one closely…
December 18, 2008 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm #628142Feif UnParticipantSometimes the best present costs very little money.
Take a nice picture that you have. Buy a frame that’s bigger than the picture.
Make a backing out of construction paper, and write some nice things around the edges. It can be something that will remind the person of when the picture was taken, or just a nice endearment.
You can also give coupons that you make yourself – “Good for one night of no cleaning up” or “Good for a private walk at the time of your choosing.”
December 18, 2008 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm #628143JosephParticipantHow about a wallet or keychain? Or a Sefer or book?
December 18, 2008 2:59 pm at 2:59 pm #628144noitallmrParticipantintellegent- nope nothing…
Too cheap…
December 18, 2008 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #628145mrmooseMemberGetting a better job?
December 18, 2008 3:15 pm at 3:15 pm #628146myshadowMemberan idea for kids to do for parents, some I know made a fake roll of film, she took yellow and black oaktags and when the ‘film’ waz unrolled she had blown up pictures starting from their wedding pix till that day. It was very cute.
But for a spouse dunno maybe prepare a quiet candlelight dinner at home and buy a huge bouquet of roses…
December 18, 2008 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #628148I can only tryMemberThe economy is not great, even for those fortunate enough to be employed.
How about a box of chocolate and a nice card?
December 18, 2008 3:35 pm at 3:35 pm #628149ZachKessinMemberOffer to do the dishes for a week. (or laundry etc)
December 18, 2008 3:39 pm at 3:39 pm #628150intellegentMembergreat ideas! really! thanks!
mrmoose-that is really a great idea-but not always feasible (I think that would be a better present for me…LOL)
December 18, 2008 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm #628151jphoneMemberThis assumes a) the gift is not for a spouse and b)the couple has a child(ren).
Offer to watch the kids so the couple can go out and spend some time by themselves for a few hours.
December 18, 2008 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #628152intellegentMemberAnything else?
December 18, 2008 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm #628153myshadowMemberintellegent; ya gotta give us some details for who, parent, spouse, grandparent? maybe we could come up with something
December 18, 2008 8:44 pm at 8:44 pm #628154intellegentMemberMy shadow,
I was thinking of that, but then I realized that who said it has to be specific for me? Why not give ideas for e/o?
But if you want to know, we can focus specifically on presents for spouses in this thread.
December 18, 2008 9:16 pm at 9:16 pm #628155noitallmrParticipantPresent for Spouse. Just wish her Happy Anniversary!!! And no I’m not a marriage councilor…
December 18, 2008 9:31 pm at 9:31 pm #628156squeakParticipantObviously not 🙂
December 19, 2008 12:17 am at 12:17 am #628157asdfghjklParticipantmdlevine: come on splurge on your wife of 20 years!!!
December 19, 2008 12:47 am at 12:47 am #628158anon for thisParticipantintellegent,
One idea for an anniversary gift for a spouse is to prepare his/ her favorite supper & present it as elegantly as possible. A nice card is appropriate too (even a dollar store card is good if one writes a thoughtful message inside).
December 19, 2008 1:11 am at 1:11 am #628159xeroxMemberIntellingent: How about aranging a party- invite married friends- each person brings a different food.. so you only $pend on the small ______(meaningfull card) that you give…. :o)
Could something along those lines work?
December 19, 2008 2:55 am at 2:55 am #628160mdlevineMemberasdfghjkl, listen – the truth is I was willing to go to $20. :o)
no one tell my wife, but I have a big night planned
I am taking her to the Pizza shop for a slice of whole wheat pizza and a soda. If the mrs. wants something, I’ll let her get something also.
then we are going to go to the mall and walk around for a few hours.
after that we will go home, she’ll make the kids lunches for the next day, wash-n-dry the dinner dishes and put them away, sweep the floors, take out the garbage, throw the clothes from the washer into the dryer and start another load, write a few mitzvah notes, portion out the snacks, check to make sure everyone is a bed – not necessarily the correct bed – but at least in the bed, listen to the answering machine, check to see of the dryer is ready and change the baby. Me, I’ll just check my email look at YW and go to sleep.
December 19, 2008 3:00 am at 3:00 am #628161asdfghjklParticipantmdlevine: i hope you treat your patients better then your wife!!! lol
December 19, 2008 3:10 am at 3:10 am #628162mdlevineMemberasdfghjkl,
I can assure you that I have no patience and my wife and kids can vouch for that. oh, and I do not have patients either. the md does not stand for doctor.
December 19, 2008 3:23 am at 3:23 am #628163asdfghjklParticipantmdlevine: lol got it!!!
December 19, 2008 4:15 am at 4:15 am #628164noitallmrParticipantmd = EDITED. ????
A Hartzig Mazel Tov!
December 19, 2008 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #628165SJSinNYCMemberIntellegent, you can get one of those keychain digital picture frames. They are usually around $15-$20 at CVS (probably cheaper other places) and then upload pictures of the two of you. This way, he will always be reminded of you no matter where he goes (and when the baby comes, he can post pictures of those too!)
DELETED – You know why!! If I let that comment get through, I would lose my moderators license. YW Moderator-72
How are you feeling BTW?
December 19, 2008 5:53 pm at 5:53 pm #628167LeiderLeider…ParticipantHi Intellegent.
I don’t know why everyone (except for SJSinNYC) assumed you’re a guy. I seem to recall from previous posts that you are the lady in the house, and that you live in E”Y (Yerushalyim I think?).
And now for my two cents…My wife will occasionaly get me a belt. When on sale, you can usually find a beautiful belt for $15.00 or less.
Most importantly, splurge on the accompanying card. That’s what really counts.
December 20, 2008 9:14 pm at 9:14 pm #628168noitallmrParticipant“My wife will occasionally get me a belt.”
Can be understood in two ways actually. 😉
Was a bit surprised upon first reading! There’s a hotline for that sort of thing! lol
December 21, 2008 4:50 am at 4:50 am #628169asdfghjklParticipantnoitallmr: you should do comedy!!!!
December 21, 2008 1:23 pm at 1:23 pm #628170intellegentMemberWow!
I’m really getting good ideas from all of you! I guess the coffee room can actually be a good thing once in a while!
mdlevine,
When I read your post, I thought, wow, that would be a great present for me! (pizza, yum!) Then I read the last paragraph… :-
SJSinNYC
Do you know if that could be bought in e”y? I guess you don’t live here so maybe not. But does anyone know?
December 21, 2008 1:39 pm at 1:39 pm #628171intellegentMemberOh SJSinNYC, I’m good bh!
LeiderLeider…
Yikes, I didn’t realize people actually remember everything I ever say about myself. I’d better be more careful in the future! LOL! Yeah, I’m the “lady” in the house.
December 21, 2008 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #628172SJSinNYCMemberIntellegent, I have no idea, but I would say very possibly. Israel often has cutting edge technology and these arent even cutting edge.
I think I remember pertinent information about people I chat with a lot!

December 21, 2008 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #628180intellegentMembermdlevine,
Ha ha!
now you know that I know the truth about you! What do you think I thought you were doing all that time by the computer?! I knew exactly what was going on. You’d better find something more productive to do with you time name removed by YW Moderator-72

I understand; just wanted to clarify. It was a good guess, no? You don’t have to answer :).
