Just look at my old posts. Funny turned into cynical after a decade of life’s challenges. Guess it’s part of growing up. Can anyone else sympathize? I’d like to refunnytize myself.
Some people stay funny despite a life full of challenges.

Frame of mind is everything.
Try to see things differently, even if it results in dark humor. (No problem with dark humor, unless it humiliates or spreads untruths about another person). There’s plenty of great material out there, especially now — you just have to open your eyes and mind to it. Oh — and don’t try hard to be funny — that’ll be forced and will fall flat. The funniest stuff of all is unexpected and gently self-depreciating.
Being “funny”, depending on what exactly is meant, can also mean a basic lack of seriousness, which is characteristic of being young. If you mean you were once frivolous and silly, you’ve lost nothing and gained maturity and sobriety.
How could you just unfunnyize like that? In times like these?? It’s a bright sunny day today. (somewhere, in the forbidden outside, on top of those gloomy looking clouds!)
Liven up, cheer up a bit!!! You’re alive (I suppose). GREAT!! Something especial to be thankful about these days. וחי בהם, to live life…

Seriously tho, when you lower your expectations of what everyone around you should be doing, and only focus on yourself, it takes the edge off and leaves more room for funny. At least it worked for me. I enjoy your posts either way, if that helps.self-deprecating

Back to the topic on hand, any ideas is cynical really funny? I find that when I’m cynical I just sound really insensitive and inappropriate. Is there a fine line that I should be toeing?
