Hold down the “alt” key and type in either 13 (?) or 14 (?) on the number pad (pad to the right of the letter keys, not the numbers above the letter keys), then release the “alt” key. ??????

Poppa Bar Abba; You were chased by an NYPD patrol car. Suddenly, he shut the lights and parked the car. Happened to me (In a similar fashion.). I made a U turn (Somewhere in Flatbush.) Suddenly. An NYPD patrol car faces me. 2 cops come out. I come out of my car. Start explaining the reason for my action. (In high tones.) They get back in the car and take off.
Please don’t try it. You could be arrested. This happened a long time ago.

still can’t get it to work on my laptop; tried it months ago on a different CR thread
AYC, does your laptop have a number pad? mine doesn’t so the alt characters only work when i plug in an external keyboard with a separate number pad. they don’t work on the number row above the qwerty row.

I tried the “number pad” on the jkluio789 keys, but that didn’t work either.
Any other ideas other than the external keyboard?
the jkluio789 number pad never worked for me either. i only tried the external last night on a whim and it finally worked cuz it had a seperate number pad. maybe numlock has to be on? just guessing here….
Go in the “Insert” menu and bring up “Symbol”. All of the symbols are there. At the bottom, there is a button for “shortcut key”. You can decide which shortcut you want to assign for different symbols. Just make sure not to use shortcuts that are already used for other functions on the computer (like Control-S). Have fun!!!

If your laptop doesn’t have a number pad you can use the one within the regular keyboard when num lock is on.
You can also use the “character map” under the start menu under accessories.
mod 42: i have yet to find the num lock button for my laptop even after google searches. but i did find the character map. Thanx

But popa, you told us where you lived by mentioning the show you went to see (and not only could I handle the truth, I wasn’t all that surprised). Or was that just because you knew you were moving? Also, you seem to drop hints from time to time that ring true, so I don’t think you really mean to hide as much as you say you do. Am I right? And is there a reason why you like to do work that has such extreme ups and downs- I take you for a much more stable and risk averse kind of guy.
i hear your cheshbon it actually makes a lot of sense but if you dont tell us now when are you going to? just say it. no one will think too deeply into it! right guys?
