Hello everyone,
I live with my mother in boro park Brooklyn and we have the bed bugs. The landlord of our building is using this company http://www.bedbugs-Brooklyn.com. I asked my landlord for their number and i spoke to the owner and he sounds like. Very nice guy. My question is are there any questions I should ask the bed bug exterminator? This is my first time dealing with this and my mother is old so we both are not informed on this matter. If we end up using this northeastern exterminating I will follow up on how they did. Since I am not paying for the service it is good just want to make sure they get rid of it.

December 30, 2012 10:01 pm at 10:01 pm #916736yitzy911MemberWhat do you mean? Yes I am in an apartment building. You mean they’re in the walls?
December 31, 2012 12:37 am at 12:37 am #916737HaLeiViParticipantThey don’t live in the walls. They live in the mattresses and box springs. But they wander from apartment to apartment. Chances are, if you have them smeone else does, too. They are smart. If they want to get onto a bed and can’t clime, they can climb up a nearby wall and fall onto the bed.
You will have to wash all your clothing and cover your matress in plastic. Do research in yor building to find out if anyone over you or under you has this problem.
It’s not a picknic but,
Good luck.

Yes in buildings (especially those with 3rd world immigrants ) its an epidemic moving wont help
December 31, 2012 3:21 am at 3:21 am #916739yiddishemishpachaMemberI so feel for you! Please listen and try what I am advising. My family lives in Flatbus and we suffered from them because we live in a building. Baruch Hashem, we did get rid of them…. without all the headaches of packing everything up and washing everything. I had no energy for all of it with a baby and so we did it with shortcuts and they worked!!!
First of all, throw out your beds (and any sleeping spaces, like a couch, etc.) and get new mattresses and keep them in the plastic or get plastic for them eventually. Throw out rugs unless they are extremely expensive. Wash curtains and bed linen of course… and have these guys come and spray everywhere. You may have to get a hotel room for a day, because everything takes time to dry.
These guys are very nice and they understand what you are going thru so don’t make you jump thru hoops… The guy’s name is Gene 718-382-1363. It’s a company. I hope the moderator allows this! I am so exhausted and writing with one eye closed but had to tell you. I know how horrible this is. Only people that had or have it can understand. The sleepless nights, etc…. we used to migrate all over the apartment. What a life it was. If you do what I am telling you, you should be fine I’YH. Hatzlacha Rabbah!
December 31, 2012 12:18 pm at 12:18 pm #916740yiddishemishpachaMemberI also wanted to mention that we had more than several exterminators that did not get rid of bed bugs. Until we threw out mattresses and headboards…(which we resisted doing — they were expensive) nothing helped. However, the exterminator Gene mentioned in the previous post told us we did not need to throw out everything.
December 31, 2012 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #916741miritchkaMemberJust for your info, i spoke to an exterminator cuz i thought we had bed bugs and they said that bedbugs could be in teh walls which is why when they come they check teh outlets – one way for them to travel.
December 31, 2012 8:00 pm at 8:00 pm #916742neeneeMemberI also lived through the horror of bed bugs. I have a great exterminator, Jimmy:1347-739-4951. good luck

January 1, 2013 12:27 am at 12:27 am #916745HaLeiViParticipantIt means that it must be taken care of. If you leave over one apartment with them they’ll regenerate.
January 1, 2013 4:28 am at 4:28 am #916746oomisParticipantEWWWWWWW! Sorry you have to go through this.
January 1, 2013 7:03 am at 7:03 am #916747yankdownunderMemberUse crumbled oregano, and put/place where the infestation is. Bedbugs do not like the scent of oregano. This is a much healthier option than telephoning a bug exterminator to spray poison in your home. Actually being that it is winter now, maybe you could freeze the bedbugs in your home/apartment. This would require finding an alternative place to stay for few days, while the bedbugs are being cold killed.
