Last night’s thread was a winner.
For argument’s sake!!!
I see the one from last night was [really] closed, and the name changed to reflect the nature of the content.
I had addressed a post to binahyeseira which was a casualty of the closing, so I will address a technical issue here.
DY – pba claims that he takes hashkafa and halacha seriously.

i would put that line in BOLD if i knew how, so everyone can see it. unfortunately, the only thing i learned how to do in the CR was to italicize. 🙁

i’ve used the cr for good – i’ve learned how to italicize and now i’ve learned how to type in bold. being in the cr is not only peaceful; it’s also educational. 🙂

i am cracking up. i do not post alot but i have been reading the coffee room for a loooong time! last nights argument was the funnest thread i have seen here in a while. since like way back when Dr. pepper was around and when boro park totty was an avid poster. I mean, when do you get to have a real debate like that EVER?;) just because popa brings stuff that are interesting to debate into the cr does not mean hes antagonistic about anything. from the posts HE posted, he did not sound antagonistic. just fun! i am a popa fan. always been! and ursula- why was that not called using the cr for good? whats the cr meant for? in this case the cr was being used to ts full potential- a real conversation.not a bunch of posts on “how this thread is insane” and ” what is popa thinking” there were many of those but the majority just argued bak with their opinions! and there were alot of smart posts on that thread. just what the cr is all about! so why is that not called using it for the good? and i’m not trying to say anything bad about anyone here- just my opinions that were forming as i read the thread! have a gr8 one!

theObvious: It’s a joke, son.* Chalk it up to old age. Long, long, ago, in a land light years away, there was a foreign object called “TV” infiltrating some of our homes and our minds. One show, called “Get Smart!” (not a call to educate the masses, rather an injunction to capture an agent of the singularly inapt name ‘Smart’) used the line “If only he [the evil enemy genius] had used his brains for good, instead of evil.” And it stuck in my mind.
*The line, “It’s a joke, son,” is also from that foreign source, from so long ago even I have forgotten it. Maybe that cartoon with the rooster Foghorn Leghorn.
Anyway, thanks for the reminder to keep my posts pure of foreign influence. Peace!

That “cool thing” I do is called blockquote. The word
blockquoteis inserted instead ofstrongorem. (The uncoded font is enclosed by backticks, the` symbol at the top left of the keyboard.)I didn’t make any of this up, I discovered it right here in the CR.

- I don’t know which debate your talking about, but I once had a similar question to one of his recent ones.
I thought the question was rather good, but I think that if you don’t know him, then it might have come across as a personal attack….I did at first, but then I noticed that he posted it, then I knew that it was more of a interesting question to make people think.
Had you clicked on edit after you saw that it worked you could have posted your second thanks in your original pot.
Does it really matter? One post or two? I doubt it just thought you might want to know of the option
I wish we could do polls in the CR.
