What is interesting is that at the time the Jews were sinning with the seuda, Hashem already saved them by killing Vashti and providing a savior for the future. We say in the Haggadah ‘הקב’ה מצילנו ‘מידם Hashem protects us through their hands. Also, Achashverus did not reward Mordechai on the spot but wrote it up for the future.
March 8, 2020 4:08 pm at 4:08 pm #1838607Reb EliezerParticipantShe had to be executed and not banished or Achasheverus, when he regret it, could have reinstated her.
March 9, 2020 4:16 pm at 4:16 pm #1838767Reb EliezerParticipantMods: What happened with today’s posts?
Not sure what you mean. Looks like they’re all there.
March 9, 2020 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #1838787Reb EliezerParticipantMods: Joseph, coffee addict and myself had posts. They all disappeared.

March 9, 2020 10:31 pm at 10:31 pm #1838853☕️coffee addictParticipant“Were they approved first?“
Well Reb eliezer saw my post so it was approved
“I checked under the tables and under all the beds. I don’t see any delwted or spammed posts“
You know you shouldn’t be looking for it when you’re drunk, and you shouldn’t be drinking Purim night
March 9, 2020 10:31 pm at 10:31 pm #1838854JosephParticipantMy part to Reb Eliezer noted that the question seems to be whether Vashti was executed before she was 20 years old or after being 20.
And I asked whether the age of responsibility for non-Jews is in fact 20 years of age. I think it is earlier for them.
March 10, 2020 2:13 am at 2:13 am #1838868Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, the question was whether she has reached the age of 20 and she can be executed or wait another month because the year was not completed yet because it became meubar?
March 10, 2020 2:13 am at 2:13 am #1838874catch yourselfParticipantMy comment on the related issue of the proper place of Agadeta was also posted earlier but is now missing.
March 10, 2020 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #1838905☕️coffee addictParticipantMy comment was if she was excommunicated Reb eliezer said why couldn’t achashverosh take her back
So I answered maybe there was a clause that he couldn’t
March 10, 2020 12:29 pm at 12:29 pm #1838911JosephParticipantReb Eliezer, even if Vashti was still 19 why would a drunk Achashveirus wait until she’s 20 before beheading her? Is 20 the age of responsibility for non-Jews under Jewish law or under Persian law? If under Jewish law, why would Achashveirus be adhering to Jewish law? Furthermore, under Jewish law the age of responsibility is 13/12.
March 10, 2020 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm #1839008Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, don’t ask me any questions, ask Rav Yonasan Eubshutz see https://hebrewbooks.org/21708
March 11, 2020 2:00 am at 2:00 am #1839091JosephParticipantReb Eliezer: What does Rav Yonason Eybshutz say regarding the point we’re discussing? (Your link goes to his Sefer but not any maare makom.)
March 11, 2020 2:35 pm at 2:35 pm #1839124Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, look at the above sefer on (1,13).

February 15, 2021 12:53 pm at 12:53 pm #1948399ujmParticipantVashti was beheaded, her head placed on a silver platter and presented to Achashveirush at the party.
February 16, 2021 9:18 am at 9:18 am #1948705hujuParticipantI thought she died in a skiing accident in what is now Turkey.
February 16, 2021 10:09 am at 10:09 am #1948714Reb EliezerParticipantThe Yalkut Shimoni above is at 1051, Esther 2, says she got killed and does not say how, nost probably beheaded, and aftewards, Ahashverus was very upset at his advisors. She held back the rebuilding of tbe Beis Hamikdash, so this was a punishment from Hashem.

February 16, 2021 3:37 pm at 3:37 pm #1948804ujmParticipantDoesn’t the Medrash say that even though Vashti HaMalka was very pretty that Esther HaMalka was even prettier?
February 16, 2021 11:31 pm at 11:31 pm #1949000Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipant>> even though Vashti HaMalka was very pretty that Esther HaMalka was even prettier
That’s what he (the King) said …
We need to learn something from Vashti! Otherwise, it is not clear why she is in the Megillah, other than explaining why the King became single.
February 17, 2021 5:06 am at 5:06 am #1949016ujmParticipantAAQ: What can we learn from Vashti?
We know that she was cruel to the Jews.
February 17, 2021 10:01 am at 10:01 am #1949114Reb EliezerParticipantEven when the Jews were sinning at the sudah, Hashem thinks of them and kills their enemies. This was a result of Vashti being so beutiful and the king wanting to show her of. The Ksav Sofer explains that in order to have a competitive beauty contest they all had to dress the same. Vasbti could not wear cloth of a comoner, neither the others her royal cloth, so there was no other optiion than wearing no clothes. She had to appear with only a crown as a punishment for having Jewish girls work for her unclothed on shabbos.
February 17, 2021 10:03 am at 10:03 am #1949133catch yourselfParticipantWe’ve had this discussion numerous times in various threads in the CR.
Although it may not be what you learned in Yeshiva, the mainstream opinion of Rishonim and Gedolei Acharonim is that Medrashim and Agadeta Gemaros are not Torah M’Sinai and we are not required to accept them as being literally true.
February 17, 2021 10:46 am at 10:46 am #1949184Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantUjm AAQ: What can we learn from Vashti?
Why do Jews answer question with a question?
Who told you that?Maybe, it has a lesson for women, as they are obligated in reading the megillah more than the other parts of Torah?! Beware of your husband even when he is trying to prove that you are the most beautiful woman in the belt? One wrong word, one bad friend, and he is ready for the beauty pageant?
Btw, Trump wasn’t the first head of state to run beauty pageant, aheshverosh was. But Trump had more wives. Both have Jewish children
For balance to the misogyny above, pesachim quote another King on how to answer questions about the menu: ask the Queen, and everyone should follow that and not be demanding
