This person (divorced for many years and childless) died suddenly a few years ago. His siblings know that he had bank accounts on the internet and throughout the USA.
Are there reliable professionals who do this on a commission basis?
Besides for searching Unclaimed Fundsin all the states, which wouldnt show up for years, what is there to do?
According to the NY website “If there has been no activity in the account for a set period of time, usually between two and five years, your money is considered unclaimed or abandoned”. So if its already been a few years since this person died any money he may have had should appear soon(ish)
AFAIK banks are required to contact their depositors at least once a year. If no corespondance came from the banks, the funds should have already been turned over to the state as unclaimed funds.
He was discovered dead in a motel room, and he was the type who hid everythng well. No one found papers of any importance. We know he had lots of money though. Family was notified that his ex-wife who he divorced many many years ago, is looking to change the status on his death certificate from divorced to married. That tells us that she definitely found something somehow.
