how to define "hairy"

hairy? never heard of that expresion before besides a person w alot of hair

I once heard it explained as someone who acts super-Yeshivish but is really just figuring out how to be Yeshivish at all. I have never heard it used about a girl (then again, I have never been talking to Yeshivish people about a girl, so…) and it was always used as a derogatory term.

I thought it was “Harry”, as in a guy’s name, and like Sam2 said it’s derogatory.

According to my many years in research of this subject; as I understand it, A Harry is someone who wears white socks with dress slacks and who pronounces “Moshe” as “Moe-sheh” It has to be a combination of the two. I sometimes wear white socks with dress slacks but I say “Moshe” so I am officially disqualified. (sorry if this upsets anyone but hey, I didn’t set the rules)

k so this is funny. its harry.not hairy. it refers to the name. as in someone who would try to fit in with the yeshivish crowd but there are so many giveaways that he’s got no idea how to act. the most blatant one being his name “Harry”. harrys generally wear white socks, use highlighters in there gemaras, have never touched a cigarette, always have headphones in their ears while going someplace, have “shtarkmarks” to show the place of all the rishonim in their kovetz, always wear their brim down, use words like perhaps,suggest,possibility, and solution when trying to explain a tosfos, say tosfos, and always always have interlinear siddurim. I’m not bashing; just stating the facts.

hairy means someone is like eisev; very hairy.
