Suppose you start saving when the kid is born; about how much do you think would be appropriate to contribute monthly?

Keep in mind that therapy may cost more in 15 years than it does now.

50% of the amount you are depositing in his college account.

Use the money to become a therapist.

    What kind of therapy?

Assuming you’re talking about money for the child’s counseling and not speech or physical therapy:

“about how much do you think would be appropriate to contribute monthly?”

I say it would be inappropriate to contribute anything at all. His life didn’t even start yet, and already you’re looking for solutions to non-existent problems? “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. If you have your own issues, spend the money on therapy for yourself so that your kid needn’t suffer. Or on a parenting workshop. Build your kid’s self esteem, be alert to and aware of issues as they arise, love your kid and tell him about it, give him security- and you’ve saved yourself lots of money and heartache down the line.

Eftach, either you’re taking it too seriously or you’re very skilled at sarcasm.

    A smile a day!

Popa, (pouting) RebYidd23 is making fun of me (sniffle). RebYidd, see my song in Randomex’s recording studio thread.

Actually, I think that is a very good post, and just what I like to think I would have posted if you had asked this question.

I like eftachbchinor’s post. Very much.

Now the question is: how much should popa put away for his own therapy?

    #1037697

Thanks Daddy dear. Thanks DY. You saved my ego. For now.

“Now the question is: how much should popa put away for his own therapy?”

Actually, that was his father’s problem. So if he needs therapy now, he should ask his own Popa.

He shouldn’t put away. When you spend money immediately after earning it, it’s not called “putting away”.

    I love your first post too – that’s a chazaka !

    Then there’s this:

Popa, (pouting) RebYidd23 is making fun of me (sniffle).

Thanks Daddy dear. […] [H]e should ask his own Popa.

Still interpreting “popa” as Poppa, I see, despite that I doubt “poppa” is ever spelled that way.

(“popa” does mean the rear of a boat in several languages, though.)

I’ll repeat myself*: Please let go of this Popa=Big Papa thing.)

    Popa is from papa

    Bar is from bar mitzva

    Abba is from abbarbanel

Not sure why everyone gets so confused about my name.

    Bar is from bar mitzva

    Nonsense. Bar is from bar.

    #1037704

Randomex- “Popa is from papa”- he says so himself. And again, I like the sound of it, not so different than the way I like “stuffs”. It just shtims.

Popa- “Wow, are you expecting your child to have a traumatic childhood?

    Of course not!

    But you all are”

    But not me.

    DY: lol:)

I don’t believe a word of what Popa says in most cases.

You’re allowed to use whatever you like the sound of, though! 🙂

    #1037707

Randomex: Popa, with all his external trappings and white little lies, has a good little heart and nice, real person trolling inside. Therefore, I have no problem calling him Popa and responding to him genuinely. (Did I make any sense over here? Not sure :))

And I always thought Popa was based on Bava Kamma 10b:

    ????? ?’ ????? ?? ???? ??? ??? ?????? ??? ??? ???? ???? ????? ?????? ???? ???? ?? ??? ???? ??? ?? ???. ??”?: ???? ??? ???

In fact this is alluded to at:

    http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/dear-popa-bar-abby-advice-column#post-382304

    and:

    http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/shabbos-guests-breaks-chair-wwyd

Although if Popa just wanted to name himself after a ??? ??? there are others he could have chosen from such as ?’ ?????? ???? ????, ?’ ????? ??’ ?????, or ?’ ?????. I have a theory but it depends on whether ??? ?? ??? and ?? ??? ?? ??? are the same person or not.
