How much did you pay for your hand shmura matza, per pound?
I paid just over ₪100 for a kilo.

are they thick matzas? how many per pound?if you have had them before, do they taste oily, like olives? If EY most bakeries use olive wood which lends an olivey taste to the matza.

April 17, 2019 10:19 am at 10:19 am #1716581rationalParticipantI pay 80 shekel per kilo
In Bnei Brak prices go as high as 50 shekel PER MATZAH if baked erev pesach after chatzos hayom
Think that’s a high price? Well, it’s matzas mitzvah where one wants the best of the best. It’s not like just choosing a wife.I was not aware that olive wood can deliver an olivey taste to the matzah. I’ve been in Israel for decades, first time I’ve heard that and I’ve definitely never tasted a difference. Very interesting.
April 17, 2019 12:09 pm at 12:09 pm #1716690“It’s not like just choosing a wife.” – please clarify. Do you choose the cheapest wife available (or alternatively, the wife that is baked erev pessach after chatzos – my husband tells me I am half baked, but doesn’t say when I was baked).

April 17, 2019 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm #1716812TGIShabbosParticipant$12/lb round hand Shmurah matzah from Cedar Market Teaneck. I feel that many people spend a lot of time, energy, money, and devotion towards XYZ matzah baked exclusively by Rav XYZ, and similar concept for their wine selection, but forget that (perhaps) the main and largest mitzvah of the night is Magid. I love a great wine at a wedding or restaurant during the year, but the seder is the opportunity for me to spend more time and devotion of resources towards Tzippur yeszias Mitzrayim with my children. Let’s remember what the Ikkur is! {And for those that say you can do both- sure, I don’t doubt you. Just make sure to look forward to the mitzvos of the night more-so than a fine Non-Mevushal Argentinian wine which you’ll forget about in a week}

We buy 1 kilo for the 7 day chag. I’m the only one that eats it after the first day, and I have no problems finishing all that by myself. I love hand-made shmura matza.
