June 23, 2011 7:08 am at 7:08 am #779894PosterMemberI also love it!! There is so much to read in the Ami Living and I see my husband enjoys the Ami magazine very much. It is quality reading. It doesnt come outin Israel though, there is someone in my building that gets it and passes it around when she is done.
June 23, 2011 12:50 pm at 12:50 pm #779895jakywebMemberall the new frum magazines are entertaining and informative. I believe I have come up with a solution to no female picture allowed, even in the women’s issues. Suscribers should have a choice between having a magazine with women’s pictures in it or not. Surely it would be possible to print copies with and without women’s pictures. For charedeis they would get the womanless issues and the rest of us could enjoy seeing what famous frum women portrayed in the magazine look like.

What, are you expecting the Ezras Nashim Illustrated Shvimkleid Edition?
June 23, 2011 4:27 pm at 4:27 pm #779900jakywebMemberExcuse me but I don’t want to bring in prust magazines like good housekeeping. Having said that there are plenty of frum women that would enjoy seeing pictures of the women featured in the frum magazines. Please don’t tell me to start my own as I don’t have the talent, money, or time.
June 23, 2011 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm #779901ChayaSuriMemberChas v’chalilah what if some some frumme men see the magazine?? It’s not tsnius! A lot of bracha come from being tsnius. The most important thing is to be tsnius from head to toe! You should all go out and get yourself a shvimkleid. I have a story of hashchocha pratis about the importance of tsnius…
June 23, 2011 4:59 pm at 4:59 pm #779902ImaofthreeParticipantI like the Ami magazine. Was just a little surprised last night when I read the words “Oh my G-d” in one of the articles. Not that something is wrong with that, but I ususally don’t see those words printed in frum magazines and newspapers.
June 23, 2011 5:23 pm at 5:23 pm #779903apushatayidParticipantI subscribe to and enjoy reading AMI magazine. With that said, I am still trying to understand the “no photos of women” policy employed by these papers. While this is certainly no proof to anything, I recently purchased the new expanded edition of R’ Shimon Finklemans biography of R’ Moshe Z’l. The book contains numerous photos of his Rebbetzin, family portraits that include photos of his daughters in law and granddaughters and other women who are mentioned in the book. The biography of R’ Pam Z’l and numerous other books published by Artscroll also contain photos of women. They clearly do not believe it is forbidden and do not have an editorial policy against it. So, when did this become editorial policy of the Yated, Hamodia, Mishpacha etc… and why? Some of the advertisements contained in these magazines and newspapers are hashkafically more problematic than a partially obscured head shot of Hillary Clinton (mishpacha magazine recently addressed one such ad).
