July 17, 2013 2:21 am at 2:21 am #966064Rabbi PerfectMemberOh I’m definitely working on mine! I hope that I can fill it up really nicely! (for all those who are completely clueless, search up “The Dash” poem)
July 17, 2013 2:37 am at 2:37 am #966065gefenParticipantI expected those kinds of responses. So here’s the story. At my father in law’s hakomas matzeiva, one of the speakers who is a good family friend, said that if we look around at all the matzeivos, there is one thing in common, between the dates of birth and death is a DASH. (ok, so not all the matzeivos had a dash but we got his point). He proceeded to read a poem about how we fill in our DASH.
I will try to get a copy of it and post it here. It was quite meaningful.
Stay tuned. I hope to post it soon.
July 17, 2013 2:59 am at 2:59 am #966066WIYMemberOk looking forward
July 17, 2013 3:17 am at 3:17 am #966067gefenParticipantRabbi Perfect – I was just going to search the internet to see if I could find the poem and post it here. Then I read your post.
So,I did look it up but it says that it may not be reprinted or posted without permission. So I guess I can’t do that. But for anyone who wants to read it, look up the Dash Poem by Linda Ellis.
Here’s the link – but I don’t know if it will be allowed here.
nope
July 17, 2013 3:20 am at 3:20 am #966068TheGoqParticipantDid Mrs. Dash die? so sad she had such a spice for life she was so full of zest I will pay Mr. Dash (Herb) a shiva call i will try and sprinkle a little sunshine into his day and the poor children and the grand dashes they loved her always peppering her with questions but she loved them she was a true oreganol i will savor the memories of her may she rest in peace.
Is it ok to be funny now?
July 17, 2013 3:40 am at 3:40 am #966069☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI think by this thyme it’s alright.

DY; also funny
Reminds me of another thing on the internet regarding the pillsbury dough boy.
July 17, 2013 4:27 am at 4:27 am #966072gefenParticipantPlease join me in remembering a great icon. Veteran Pillsbury spokesperson, The Pillsbury Doughboy, died yesterday of a severe yeast infection and complications from repeated pokes to the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a slightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out, including Mrs. Butterworth, the California Raisins, Hungry Jack, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, Captain Crunch and many others.
The graveside was piled high with flours as long-time friend, Aunt Jemima, delivered the eulogy, describing Doughboy as a man who “never knew how much he was kneaded.”
Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with many turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times, even as a crusty old man, he was still considered a roll model for millions.
Toward the end it was thought he’d raise once again, but he was no tart.
Doughboy is survived by his second wife, Play Dough. They have two children and one in the oven. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.
July 17, 2013 5:04 am at 5:04 am #966073JustHavingFunParticipantI am not a poet… but I play one on TV.
Fill your dash,
Use some cash.
Eat some ash
with your mash.
If you bash,
you will clash.
Leftover hash
is my pash.
Against their lash
raise your sash.
Fix that gash
don’t let teeth gnash.
Use your cash,
Fill that dash.

July 17, 2013 5:21 am at 5:21 am #966075gefenParticipantFor everyone’s info, JHF’s dash poem is not the one to which I am referring. But I assume you all figured that out. 😉
Yeah JHF – you’re a pretty busy guy on TV (whatever that is)- drinking, gawking, and now poetry. How do you have time for the CR?
July 17, 2013 2:05 pm at 2:05 pm #966076WIYMemberI thought this was going to be a thread about people who customize their car dashboard.
