Anyone got anything on Hilchos Purim to talk about, aka interesting machloikeses, hilchos meggila, etc?
March 5, 2009 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm #943570myshadowMemberIs it true if I miss even one word of the megilla I’m not yotzei?
I’m embarressed to say this but two yrs ago I came late to megilla and some guy was like just come in quick, so I just stayed. I felt kinda guilty after
March 5, 2009 9:12 pm at 9:12 pm #943571David S.Membermyshadow, I’ll look the matter up, and I’ll give an answer before Taanis Ester
March 5, 2009 9:20 pm at 9:20 pm #943572moish01Memberi think if you miss a few words during the reading you can say it for yourself (doesn’t have to be from a claf.) majority does have to be heard from a claf, though.
i think that’s correct.
March 5, 2009 9:22 pm at 9:22 pm #943573SJSinNYCMemberMyshadow, I think you are supposed to read every word to yourself if you miss until you catch up…
March 5, 2009 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #943574David S.MemberI think moish01 is right, but still I will look that up
March 5, 2009 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #943575TJMemberIf you miss hearing the beginning, I don’t think catching up works. If I recall correctly, you have to hear the beginning, the end, and the majority of the megillah.
March 5, 2009 11:19 pm at 11:19 pm #943576kapustaParticipantdoesnt work for the begining but if you miss a word because of overly enthusiastic children then you can read it to yourself I think its 51% that has to be really heard.
moish, I’m impressed (almost as much as your defining my name from google even though you were a little off 🙁 did you brag to joseph yet? 🙂
March 5, 2009 11:27 pm at 11:27 pm #943577moish01Memberdo i ever brag??
March 5, 2009 11:34 pm at 11:34 pm #943578kapustaParticipantgood point did you humiliate yourself in front of joseph then? jk and I repeat, I am impressed because its a very random thing, once a year…

March 6, 2009 2:47 pm at 2:47 pm #943583myshadowMemberanonymisss, no clue I probably said it to myself. I was a little kid, thought I had better things to do tanis esther night.
I really feel bad bout it though but k good I definately heard most of the megilla.
March 13, 2009 12:48 am at 12:48 am #943584David S.Memberwell I’m still looking, couldn’t find much, and I know Purim’s over and Pesach is coming, better soon switch topic, but if anyone has some halochos (please post your sources for reference) to discuss, it wuold still be great for me to look them up as well. ALso, can someone start a Hilchos Pesach thread, I’m sorry I can’t do it, I’m creating too many threads. I now need to download another 20 seforim from hebrewbooks.org on hilchos pesach and the haggadah now. my computer is so running out of space.
April 9, 2013 8:15 pm at 8:15 pm #943585LanderTalmidParticipant51% has to be read from the klaff but every word must be read/heard. Also it cannot be read out of order so if you missed the beginning you can’t read it to yourself after the leining. I hope there is a second reading in your area and this doesn’t create problems for you.
