November 30, 2010 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm #715072wants to be a WIYMemberRabbi Hiyya Bar Aba said Even a father and his son, Rebbi and his student who learn Torah together (in one gate) become ?????? enemies of each other, but do not move away until they become ?????? of each other, as it says “??? ????? ?????????” (Bamidbar 21:14), do not read ????????? , but ?????????? at the end.

Dont be so hard on yourself slow and steady you will get there as long as you are trying to.
??? ??? ???? ?? ???: ????? ??? ????, ??? ??????? ??????? ????? ???? ???, ????? ?????? ?? ?? ?? ????? ???? ??? ?? ?????? ?????? ?? ?? ??, ?????; “??? ????? ?????????”, ?? ???? ?????????, ??? ??????????.
Rabbi Chiyya Bar Abba said: Even a father and son, a Rebbi and his talmid who are occupying themselves in Torah in one gate (I think that means that they are next to each other and under the same gate, or it can refer to the fact that the Batei din used to be by the city gates…there are probably various pshatim) they become as enemies one to another (from heated debate) but they dont move from the spot until they love one another as it states (??? ???? ??????? ???????? ????????? ??-?-??-?) ??? ????? ????????? (????? ??????????? ????????) Vahev in Sufah (its a place Bemidbar 21:14) dont read it as ????????? but rather as ??????????. Basically its like a play on words which you find often in the Gemara and it means read it as if it says “there will be love at the end” (they will love each other at the end)
You are welcome 🙂

Halacha – printing the shem havayah
Submitted by anonymous Answered by Rav Peretz Moncharsh
Question: In your recent article on “kiruv failures” you printed a posuk and spelled out the shem havayah. Is it allowed to spell out the tetragramaton name of Hashem if it’s not in a sefer? And is it allowed for us to erase the name when we close the page? I posted this question on your contact form but have not received a response.
Answer: It is permitted ??????? to write Hashem’s name for Divrei Torah under circumstances where it is not likely to be disgraced. It is a machlokes whether the page may be erased, and in my opinion it is generally accepted to be permitted because one is not erasing physical words, just interrupting the flow of electrons and preventing the words from being formed in the future. However, since some Poskim are machmir regarding erasing Hashem’s name on a computer screen and it is easily avoidable by using a kinuyi, it would be preferable to be machmir in the future. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I cut and pasted and its not likely that it will get erased. Your point was…?
December 6, 2010 9:00 pm at 9:00 pm #715077HelpfulMemberIt gets erased once it scrolls off the screen.

“It gets erased once it scrolls off the screen.”
Please tell me you didnt just make that up…
December 6, 2010 9:17 pm at 9:17 pm #715079YW Moderator-80Memberactually it gets erased from your screen (and immediately formed again) every time you scroll more than a pixel in any direction
December 6, 2010 9:21 pm at 9:21 pm #715080wants to be a WIYMemberMod 80 That is actually the basis for those who are Matir since it is not a Ksav Hamiskayehm
just interrupting the flow of electrons and preventing the words from being formed in the future
December 7, 2010 3:05 am at 3:05 am #715081Midwest2ParticipantActually it gets erased every few seconds no matter what, because the electron beam creating the picture is moving constantly. Don’t believe me? Try taking a photograph of your computer screen. One half of it will be blank, because there’s a time lapse so one image doesn’t overlap with another. I found this out the hard way when my printer wasn’t working 🙂 But you have to have a short exposure time.
