Since I see we are in the company of some real computer whizes (Joseph, ICOT…) I am hoping someone can help me with this. Does anyone know where I can get free animations to enhance photos in a powerpoint slide presentation? For example, put the photo into a photo album etc…

You can also animate the picture itself with custom animation.

Without being sure of exactly what you are wanting to do, I’ll just throw out a couple of ideas…
1) If you’re wanting to do a photo slideshow, put each photo on its own slide, then click on the “Slide Show” pull-down menu, and choose “Slide Transition…” You will see options for adding neat animations for the slide transitions (fades, checkers, blinds, etc.)
2) If you want the slides to automatically advance (without the viewer clicking to advance), then in that same menu, look down at “Advance Slide” and uncheck “On Mouse Click” and check “Automatically After” and choose how many seconds you want. You can do this with one slide, or click “Apply to all slides” at the bottom. WARNING: This will also apply whatever transition effect you have chosen to all slides as well…so if you’ve put a unique one on each slide, they’ll get overwritten. My advice would be to do the automatically after option first, apply to all slides, and then choose the unique transitions you want.
I hope this information is helpful!

December 22, 2008 10:28 pm at 10:28 pm #631027designingMemberPlace your picture on the slide. Right click, and click on the “Custom Animation”. On the right side, you will see a box. On the top, click on the “Add Effect” button. Select a effect AND ENJOY!

December 23, 2008 3:31 am at 3:31 am #631028ywnmemberMemberThanks everybody! I’m really getting gr8 tips.
One specific thing I had in mind was actually what I saw on a slide presentation I once watched. They had the photos “pulled” out of “file boxes”, photos coming out of “photo albums” and other cool stuff. How do I get my photos to do that on the computer?
December 23, 2008 10:05 pm at 10:05 pm #631029designingMemberIf you place a photo on the screen and put frame around it, you can use “effects” to make pictures fly in and out of the frame. You can place more then one picture in the frame and make effects to see diffrent ones. There are also other programs that allow you to do “cool” things, if you know of a really good one, please let me know. I am buying new programs soon.
If there is a great demand, I can make a PowerPoint presentation on how to use PowerPoint. Post your comments so I know the Olam wants it.
December 24, 2008 7:38 pm at 7:38 pm #631030ywnmemberMemberThank you Mr./Mrs. Designing. I will use your advice iy”h. Judging on your screenname, I assume you registered specifically to answer my question. Thanks. I appreciate it very much.

It doesn’t seem like there is ANY demand. If people want a FREE PowerPointPresentation on how to use PowerPoint, please tell me so that I know you want it.
January 6, 2009 1:29 am at 1:29 am #631032havesomeseichelMemberI have been using powerpoint for a while now, but I find open office to be great and whats even better- its free! u download it for no charge, and it has excell, word, powerpoint… all under different names (presentation instead of powerpoint, writer instead of word) and you can save it as a .doc so others with the expensive microsoft version can read it as well! Also, no need to learn how to use it as the symbols at the top are almost the same.
January 7, 2009 11:17 pm at 11:17 pm #631033designingMemberhavesomeseichel: does ‘Presentation’ have the same, better or worse effects as PowerPoint?
Anyone want a free PowerPoint Presentation on how to use PowerPoint? Let me know . . .
January 11, 2009 10:27 pm at 10:27 pm #631034lmParticipantThank you, designing I would love to learn more about PowerPoint. When is this program used and for what?
January 11, 2009 10:52 pm at 10:52 pm #631035d aMemberI see that designing posted his Power Point idea on the Computer Tips page ( http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/computer-tips-have-any ). So far there are 2 votes for a Power Point Presentation.
designing: do you have a certain number you want to go to or when you feel there are enough people asking for it?
January 11, 2009 11:24 pm at 11:24 pm #631036d aMemberdesigning: that is 3 votes.
January 12, 2009 1:23 am at 1:23 am #631037labochurMemberYeah, count me in too.
January 12, 2009 6:01 am at 6:01 am #631038ywnmemberMemberI guess you can include me too. Thanks, designing. Looking forward but hope you won’t overwork…

Pleas let us know what “a great demand” means.
January 13, 2009 12:51 am at 12:51 am #631040havesomeseichelMemberSorry designing- it is different. the problem I faced earlier today is when transfering wordart and some graphics to a powerpoint computer it caused me some slight issues… some do not come through, while others came through perfectly! I happen to not really like the new microsoft so this is great for me… there are some of the same classics and some different ones. I havent had it that long to try all of them, but it will be easier to use if you make it on the same program that you will use and not transfer in between the two, as it might be lost. with the word/writer difference- almost none. inconsequential. You just need to remember to save it in the right formatting. And if you use the new microsoft word, it cant transfer to open office, but the older word programs can.
