I was told I don’t know how to write or express my words in a proper way. Please help me with my grammar and literacy so I can post comments like all of you where people can understand. No jokes and letzunis please.
September 12, 2022 5:56 pm at 5:56 pm #2123740Reb EliezerParticipantYou might want to get something like Random House Webster’s Pocket Grammar, Usage, and Punctuation: Second Edition (Pocket Reference Guides) 2nd ed. Edition available at Amazon.
September 12, 2022 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #2123766NechomahParticipantYou might type your comments in a program such as Microsoft Word, where there is the option for spell and grammar check while you are typing. Look at the suggestions and changes that need to be made and once they are done then copy/paste the comment into the webpage. (Also make sure to use paragraphs in addition to punctuation.)
September 12, 2022 10:18 pm at 10:18 pm #2123828DontMindMeParticipantI suggest you simply read. Read English books, newspapers, whatever. You don’t need to learn to write like Shakespeare, you just need to be able to write simple and coherent sentences. For that you simply need more exposure to English writing.
September 12, 2022 11:32 pm at 11:32 pm #2123843Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantAgree with all of the above. Your spelling is fine – either you know it or have enough seichel to use spell-checker. You just need to work on sentence structure, you seem to be writing the way you talk to a friend who knows what you are talking about. When you read, pay attention to how text is divided in sentences, and punctuation in sentences. A high school or college English textbook could help. There is a classical very thin book by William Strunk “Elements of style” that lists 90% of all possible errors you can ever make. It is a good start.

September 13, 2022 8:03 am at 8:03 am #2123889commonsaychelParticipantI will take this post at face value and assume you mean it.
Take half the amount of time that you spend online and take a ESL class, most are low cost or free.September 13, 2022 9:16 am at 9:16 am #2123909Reb EliezerParticipantYou might be biased as you know what you want to tell us. Get someone else as an editor to read it first before posting it to see if they understand what you mean.
September 13, 2022 10:05 am at 10:05 am #2123974Reb EliezerParticipantGiven by a woman, there is a VIDEO course at ‘the great courses’ website called Write about Anything available to download or on a DVD.
September 13, 2022 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm #2124108ujmParticipantReb Eliezer, is there anything available from a man?
September 13, 2022 10:33 pm at 10:33 pm #2124309Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipant> is there anything available from a man?
why would you want an inferior product?!
Women score better on English and Reading ACT.
Some estimate that women say 20K words a day, 3 times more than men. They are definitely bekiyot.September 13, 2022 10:35 pm at 10:35 pm #2124314Reb EliezerParticipantNo, not for that price.
September 15, 2022 5:50 pm at 5:50 pm #2125019Reb EliezerParticipantThat course above is taught by a woman dressed in a pant suit with an open neck.
September 15, 2022 8:23 pm at 8:23 pm #2125157ParticipantParticipantLiteracy in 3 easy steps, from the passive subject who told you you’re illiterate:
1) If a words doesn’t strike your fancy, just change its definition, all by yourself. You have the right to do that, and no one can ever take that right away from you.
2) If you can read, open a dictionary, and select 10 complicated sounding words. (IF you can’t read, ask someone to do it for you.) Make a few phrases using a few of those words, and say them with confidence and an intelligent air. If writing them, make sure to preface it with a #, and don’t use spaces.
3) when all else fails, did you know that Trump is actually also quite illiterate? He had to cheat in Yale or Harvard or wherever he was.
September 15, 2022 8:26 pm at 8:26 pm #2125168Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantDim your screen.
September 15, 2022 11:20 pm at 11:20 pm #2125246Reb EliezerParticipantTrump went to the Wharton School of the University of PA with a BS in economics.
