I have a mouse in my apartment. I put out like 10 traps and tons of bait over the passed week. it seems to be avoiding my traps.
How can I catch it!!!!
Borrow a neighbors cat to walk thru your house for a bit.
Bring a cat. Or just use peanut butter and put it outside.
Has the mice eaten anything? You need to bait it with something that it likes.
Mice like chocolate, fresh baked items, peanut butter or raw potatoes. Try different traps with different bait.
But make sure the traps are humane and nontoxic.
I had very good experience bh with mouseproofing
Cats don’t have a problem with fast mice. They know how to catch them. A humane trap does not cause the mouse to suffer.
Right. So they mice proof to prevent more from coming in and put poison for the ones in your house to die. . Or other methods.

I’ve had success with the Victor electronic trap. It electrocutes the little pests. Available for about $20 at Lowes and HD.

Have you tried unplugging your mouse from the usb?
You can ask a good reliable exterminator what he would do with the existing mice. I’d tell you who I had good experience with but don’t know if its allowed here
try finding the hole then put a trap under it (or next to it)
also mice hate mint (the smell is too strong for them)
I had this problem THREE times when the school next door to me dug foundations for construction on three separate occasions.It is DISGUSTING, but we put out poison baits on the food pantry floor and sticky traps along the walls where the mice were seen and they were caught, especially behind the couch. I also (don’t laugh) put the sticky traps in front of the door threshholds to every bedroom, as I was scared of mice coming into the room while were sleeping.
The ick factor was high, and I had terrible guilt feelings when I saw the mice that were caught and made my husband and son put them in plastic bags and get rid of them. Most of the time, we never saw the mice, only that they were no longer around (due to being poisoned and then running off to die) But the ones on the traps haunted me for months. I can’t stand to kill or trap another creature, but they bring disease and filth. They look NOTHING like Mickey or Minnie. So Hashem forgive me, but I did what I had to do.
Putting them in plastic bags is wrong. They slowly suffocate.
That’s not humane.

Poster, does the mouse eat food in your house? What about from the traps?
If it can eat from the trap but doesn’t get trapped then it must be pretty smart! But with the Victor it won’t be able to do that. It’s like a tunnel and the food is all the way inside. But before the mouse can reach it, it will get zapped. All you have to do is open the cover and dump it into the toilet.

Poster: Let me put in my Two cents.
From my own experience, and logic you can deduce that this mouse who heard of your reputation as a wonderful host/ess was eager to set up residence in the crevices of your house with his/her entire family.
Because the mouse that you saw, probably has a father and mother. And brothers and sisters. (Hope I didn’t scare you too much.)
In my humble opinion, you should not fill your entire house with mousetraps. It’s a waste of money and effort. They are shrewd little animals. Hashem gave them that instinct for survival. But, like everyone else. Sooner or later they will make a mistake. And they will land on the one, or two traps (preferably glue traps) that you put out.In the dark, and the stillness of night when they come out to forage for food, they will be caught. One by one.
But until such time, rest assured that the mice are more scared of you than than you are of them. Sleep calmly. And if you wake up in middle of the night to a squeaking, squealing sound, you will know that they are trapped. Put them (Those that are caught) along with the trap in a plastic bag and dispose of them….End of story…!
Glue traps are cruel. And they catch more humans than mice.
Exterminator might be expensive but IMHO its worth it for your peace of mind! I like your train of thought with the tikkun !
You can’t just do something and feel bad about it. If it’s wrong, don’t do it!
What the exterminator suggested may not be what’s right.
Mice are not legally allowed to own property.
Poster, do you live in BP? The reason you have mice is because they can’t afford apartments of their own. Vote for Caller and he’ll solve the mouse house problem.
The only thing worse thing than finding a mouse is…finding half of a mouse.
Is there a landlord associated with your apartment? Suggest an exterminator who uses humane rodent control.
Incidentally, I worked for a company that had mice and they put out those glue trap things.
While I am not a fan of mice, I saw a few of them stuck in those things and struggling to get free…their breathing rapid and they struggled to the point of almost dismembering a leg. It was terrible. They actually looked innocent.
I did some research, and during lunch,I went out and bought some vegetable oil and poured a few drops into those glue trap things. It allowed the mice to free themselves. I felt better.
I recommend humane humane rodent removal because ignorance is not always bliss.
I sincerely hope those of you who use glue traps have the decency and common sense to put the animal out of its misery before throwing them out.
If you don’t, then you have no business using glue traps.
Poster: I’m glad to hear that you did have some catches. And, most importantly that you are calling in an exterminator, to deal with this problem.
As far as your neighbor (The one that squealed louder than the mouse) is concerned. The next time she will “need” a cup of sugar or an egg for an omelet, she’ll come running to your house.
Everyone is right, who commented on the glue traps and bags. Nevertheless, what would you suggest should be done with animals caught on glue traps? ANY trap is not humane. I could never have drowned them (as someone suggested to me once). I could not leave them in plain sight on the glue traps – it was freaking us all out (B”H this was at least a year ago). Vermin carry diseases. Would you be able to kill them quickly yourself? I couldn’t bear to, but they were infesting my home. How is a glue trap different from a roach motel, btw?
Also, poison baits make the mice very thirsty, and when they go to drink water, it makes their bellies swell up and burst. THAT’S a better idea????? I am a big proponent of avoiding tzaar baalei chayim, but health and sanity comes first.
Put the trap in a plastic bag and find a blunt object. Squish the head. The animal is dead instantly. Your squeamishness is no excuse for suffering. Even poison is more humane. And the poison you describe doesn’t work like that, it’s an anticoagulant. When animals drink too much, their stomachs don’t burst either. Not unless someone had a little funnel and force-fed them?

Use a trap that simply catches them without harming them.
