Someone I know needs to see a therapist. She can’t go to any Frum (or even Jewish) therapists in the area because there are none that take her insurance. She is paying out of pocket, and can’t really afford much. She is currently going to a non Jewish therapist that takes her insurance, but is still paying a hefty sum. Because it costs so much, she is not able to go to the therapist as often as she needs. Are there any organizations out there that have frum therapists who help in these type of situations (where people are struggling monetarily)? Any other advice?

Thank you so much in advance!

JBFCS Jewish Borad for Family and Children Services. The actual organization is not Jewish, however they have clinics in Borough Park and Crown Heights. These clinics are strictly frum. They have chasidish, yeshivish and five-towns tyoe therapists. Speaking Yiddish/English/Russian/Hebrew. They take all kinds of insurance. 718-435-5700 X 222 1273 53rd Street Brooklyn, NY 11219

    Just Plain,

Why would you say that an agency called “Jewish Board” is not Jewish.

Call Relief Resources. Google that name for their webpage.

You can call Nefesh or Relief resources. They both should be able to help you with information.

The Jewish Board (JBFCS)used to be a Jewish Org about 100 yrs ago. For the past several decades they have been servicing everyone (equally). The organization doesn’t observe Shabbos, Yom Tov, nor any part of the Torah. They unfortunately kept the “Jewish” part of their name, thereby misleading the public, who may be under the impression that it’s a Jewish org. Nevertheless, their clinics in B.P. and Crown Heights are Jewish and observant.

call Relief I think that’s how you can get in contact with Rabbi Shuki Berman who knows doctors for mental and physical health. He is amazing and can really help

@Just Plain: If the JBFCS receives money/grants from the government, by law they MUST accept any client no matter religion, nationality, creed or sexual preference.

You are right, they are NOT a Shomer Shabbat agency.

I know this opinion is controversial, but she should buy self help books. Combining books that address her issues plus therapy instead of just therapy should save her lots of time and money.

If you would indicate what type of therapy she needs, perhaps I can suggest some reading material.
