I am a shtark yeshiva bocher learning in bm. I have been set up with a really shark girl who lives out in la. Should I first meet her online (Skype) or should i fly all the way to la? i know meeting online has its downs but I’m not sure i want to spend the money to go out there if it will be a one and done
January 20, 2012 4:56 am at 4:56 am #845223SaysMeMemberask your rosh!
January 20, 2012 5:02 am at 5:02 am #845224blablaParticipantI vote skype first but don’t turn her down for things like looks or a little awkwardness (in addition to many other silly reasons…) cuz computers can do that…
January 20, 2012 5:16 am at 5:16 am #845225☕️coffee addictParticipantTroll?
Hey, he’s dating a shark
January 20, 2012 6:04 am at 6:04 am #845226real-briskerMemberylsuories – Are you a “shtark” learning bochur, or are you a manager, as stated HERE in your profile?
January 20, 2012 7:31 am at 7:31 am #845227HaLeiViParticipantWere you setup or are you trying to set something up?
January 20, 2012 2:17 pm at 2:17 pm #845228classicalmusicMemberIt’s polite to fly out there and go out with her. The Steipler took an eight hour train ride to meet his wife for their first date….if it’s a priority for you, go for it!
January 20, 2012 3:55 pm at 3:55 pm #845229A manager in the zoo, nonetheless…
January 20, 2012 4:35 pm at 4:35 pm #845230BTGuyParticipantHi yis.
Skype is a good way to break the ice, unless you feel you dont want to be sitting there with a face shot that she may enlarge to cover the entire screen..
Sometimes, in person, where you can move and walk and gesture is a bit better. It depends on how you feel about Skype after speaking to your rabbi.
Just be sure if she is from LA (Lake Arrowhead?) that she does not have gang affiliation. If she does, make sure no one has a beef with her before you get out there, yo.
Hatzlacha!!
January 20, 2012 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #845231longarekelMemberSuggest to her that she should fly in to meet you. If she agrees, then pack your bags and get on the next plane. She’s well worth it. If she refuses then you can skype.
January 20, 2012 5:58 pm at 5:58 pm #845232popa_bar_abbaParticipantWhy not just make her fly in?
January 20, 2012 6:04 pm at 6:04 pm #845233longarekelMemberCause then she’ll have one up on you
January 20, 2012 6:25 pm at 6:25 pm #845234bptParticipantFly out. If you are serious about her, its worth the $450.
January 20, 2012 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm #845235midwesternerParticipantAs a Midwesterner, I can say with relative confidence, that there are no coffeeroom members in Kalamazoo. Having been through there many times on the way between Chicago and Detroit, and its proximity to South Haven, MI, home of Camp Aguda Midwest, I can say that there is not a single member of The Yeshiva World there. (Unless you count a teeny Chabad House on the campus of Western Michigan. Somehow this question doeas not appear to come from a shaliach.)
January 22, 2012 2:39 am at 2:39 am #845236Think firstMemberShtark guys aren’t in the coffe room.
Sorry,

January 22, 2012 1:50 pm at 1:50 pm #845239real-briskerMemberWhy do people start threads and then disappear?
January 22, 2012 4:38 pm at 4:38 pm #845240yahudMembergot no parents?
January 22, 2012 5:19 pm at 5:19 pm #845241whataguyMemberFirst of all as a former Yeshiva guy I am not sure what you mean by “shtark” I honestly never heard of a shtark yeshiva bochur draying around on YWN Coffee room. Is this the only site you browse or are you akso browsing other types of sites and then maybe someone should tell the girl from LA to be careful of the Shtark Yeshiva Bochur she was “red” to?!?!?!
