YWN’s spam filters automatically put foreign language posts in spam. Hebrew is recognized by the system as a foreign language.
Therefore, we have found many legitimate posts in spam. We just approved them, but some may be weeks old.
The moderators don’t program the site, so there is nothing we can do to fix this (complaining won’t help). We also don’t check spam very often.
What we can suggest is that if you transliterate the Hebrew, it is less likely to end up in spam.
Alternatively, if you post Hebrew words/paragraphs, you can notify us that you have done so, either in this thread, or in a separate, English only post in the thread in which you have posted the Hebrew. This will alert us to check the spam folder.
We are sorry for the inconvenience.
May 14, 2021 1:42 pm at 1:42 pm #1974506ujmParticipantWere these posts you found in spam new threads that were started or were they posts in existing threads? Were the posts all Hebrew or were some of the posts a combination of Hebrew and English?
After approving week(s) old posts, do those newly approved posts appear on the bottom of the thread or do they get placed above newer posts (that were approved weeks earlier)?

May 16, 2021 1:41 am at 1:41 am #1974685Always_Ask_QuestionsParticipantYou can usually put filters into your email system that will allow email addresses or certain words to avoid spam.
The ultimate question is whether you can train the spam system from the moderator decisions …

They were posts in existing threads. The same thing happens to new topics as well, though.
Were the posts all Hebrew or were some of the posts a combination of Hebrew and English?
Some were a combination.

I don’t know. I didn’t check them in the threads afterwards.

As I mentioned, the moderators do not program the site.

May 26, 2021 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1977663ParticipantParticipantwhat does it mean, it goes to spam? I mean, it’s a post on a site, not a foreign email.
June 11, 2021 7:55 am at 7:55 am #1982072MilhouseParticipantIt means that the comment goes into the spam bucket and does not appear on the site.
June 11, 2021 7:56 am at 7:56 am #1982073MilhouseParticipantAAQ, it has nothing to do with email. We are talking about comments on this site, not about email.
June 11, 2021 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #1982169ParticipantParticipantwhat a clear and thorough explanation.
July 22, 2021 10:34 pm at 10:34 pm #1994025Reb EliezerParticipantMods, has this problem been fixed?
for now
