Has anyone used this app on an android running mobile? How was your experience? I seem to see mixed reviews on Google Play (a lot of complaints of it running slow or not being able to uninstall, however others seem quite happy). Does anyone recommend any other filters (preferably cheap or free). I don’t need anything fancy, just something that blocks adult sites mainly. I was using k9 and I was very happy with it but I loaded the new Android OS and was dissapointed to find k9 isn’t compatible with it and I can downgrade back (K9 customer service can’t give an ETA on when the new version will be ready). BTW last time I made a post like this it turned into a bit hashkafic debate – please stick to answering my questions or else start your own post, thank you!

I think it will depend on how tech savvy you are, and how much of a deterrent is needed (sorry, that’s partly hashkafic 🙂 ). There are ways around filters, and I’m told that that the only one(s) that are reasonably difficult to get around are not free.

Some lady took my info and said she would pass it on to somebody but she warned me that they are very patchy when getting back to people in Israel and she was right because I haven’t heard back from them. K9 isn’t perfect but I use it on my laptop and as mentioned was previously running it on my mobile and overall I’ve been pretty pleased with it – it does a fairly good job without being overly invasive on whatever machine your using it on… chaval it seems like it may be a long time until the new version comes out.

You can try Mobicip or Kids Safe Browser. They work similarly to how K9 worked in that they are their own browsers with built in filtering.
Again, they are not foolproof, but if you’re just looking for a K9 equivalent, one of them might work for you.
