October 17, 2013 11:52 pm at 11:52 pm #1215195Burnt SteakParticipantI hope you realize that #22Florida is in the SEC and they are playing #14Misouri this week. I was asking about #5Florida State vs. #3Clemson. Florida is ranked but they are 4-2. Florida State and Clemson are both undefeated.
October 18, 2013 12:21 am at 12:21 am #1215196Sam2ParticipantBurnt Steak: The winner will be ahead of Ohio State but not Oregon. Not a chance (well, maybe a slight chance that Clemson can in the BCS because the computers hate Oregon right now but definitely not in the polls).

October 18, 2013 7:27 pm at 7:27 pm #1215198eclipseMemberQuestions:
1.Why do people get offended by “iy”h by you”? I try not to say it because it became “taboo” but I don’t truly get why it should make people angry.
2.Why do people tend to believe dishonest people more often than honest people?
3.Why don’t people say Tehillim on Shabbos? It’s the most relaxing time to say it.
October 20, 2013 1:25 am at 1:25 am #1215199oomisParticipantOomis, that was the mods editing when I responded to your question. “
Thanks for letting me know, and I am sorry I thought it was you being a little rude.
Mods, that was a little bit uncalled-for. I never gave ANY personal info out and never do, and it was clear I was only joking with the poster’s claim the he knows everything. If YOU guys meant your response as a joke to me, you should have said so, otherwise it was a little bit much. I thought you knew me better than that by now.

October 20, 2013 5:04 am at 5:04 am #1215201Little FroggieParticipantEclipse:
Why, those are easy ones even I could attempt.
1) Let’s assume it’s an older girl. She sops her pillow every night, every other girl’s simcha is another stab to her delicate heart. So one night she bravely paints over a smile, a new look, a bright gaily attitude and ventures out to a friend’s chasuna. She wants her personal misery now definitely forgotten, put aside. She put much effort into this venture, she may not want to be (again) reminded of her sorry state. Of course there’s a way to tell her, AND I’M SURE YOU KNOW BEST, but that’s the answer – why sometimes one will be angry.
2)That may be because this is an olam hasheker so falsehood roams freely. Sometimes falsehood can be made so polished, so convincing that it’s more readily believed than emes. But don’t worry, as the Gemarah says, Sheker ayin lo raglaim, it has no feet (as all letters shin kuf and reish have only one leg, as opposed to emes alef meme suf which have two), will not stand long, will eventually dissipate. The Emes will eventually shine forth.
3)Tehillim may be said on Shabbos, as you noted, it’s the most relaxed time. It’s the opportune time to connect with Hashem, especially through those words. It’s just that one musn’t say bakashos on Shabbos the way one does in the weekdays, that’s lessening the tranquility of the day.

What I know about electricity is that if one comes in close contact, a most shocking experience will ensue. Two (live) wires double the fun.

I always appreciate a bracha, but I remember one time in particular someone (also single) told it to me, completely dripping with nebach. Its not something that caused warm, fuzzy feelings. Also, I can see that people would want to be acknowledged for something other than their single status. IMO, an honest bracha would be appreciated, but its the kind of thing that depends on the person…

October 23, 2013 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #1215217metrodriverMemberLittle Froggie: Thanks. Your answer is very much on target. My motivation for posing this question was just (jokingly) to prove to VMSG that he/she does not know the answer to everything. This is a highly technical question. And unless one has field experience in electrical installation they would not know the answer.
October 23, 2013 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #1215218Little FroggieParticipantMetrodiver:
I see, besides being a Metro driver, you’re also a highly qualified, experienced electrical contractor /engineer. WOW. Such humbleness, you’re so highly qualified, yet you mingle with such lowly characters such as me.

October 24, 2013 2:44 am at 2:44 am #1215219whats_in_a_nameMemberCould Hashem microwave a burrito so hot that He himself could not eat it?
October 24, 2013 4:12 am at 4:12 am #1215220metrodriverMemberLittle Froggie: Thanks for the compliments (As opposed to “Complement/s”/). The answer is, (For whatever it’s worth to you.) Yes. You can do it. But it’s not advisable. Because if you are having a load (Running an appliance. Even an alarm clock) on the other, –unprotected — side, the GFI breaker will not trip when you have a ground fault, or leakage current. In practical terms, all of the above is irrelevant because today we have 2-pole GFI breakers. My experience is from the “Olden Days”.(Circa 1977).

What seminary will I end up going to?
How many girls are there in my class?
How many people are there in my family?
October 27, 2013 4:16 am at 4:16 am #1215232Veltz MeshugenerMemberNeed seminary help:
1. Not everything has to mean something. The cliche you mentioned is useful for what it does, not what it says.
2. It doesn’t matter, they are all the same. Or at the very least, all the ones that you’re considering will result in a similar outcome, and not going to seminary at all will not be drastically different than any of them.
3&4. I’m not here to be tested. If you want to test someone, try giving maaser and see if you get rich.

Still no answer to “What hair color do they put on the driver’s licenses of bald men?” (streekgeek)
Anyone know for sure?
February 6, 2017 9:53 am at 9:53 am #1215235Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI could ask my brother – then I’ll know for sure.
February 6, 2017 4:37 pm at 4:37 pm #1215236☕️coffee addictParticipantIf the person is completely bald and no chance of regrowth, then “none” if possible. If a person’s hair has a chance to regrow, then the color the hair was last time the person saw it.
we have something called google
February 6, 2017 5:18 pm at 5:18 pm #1215237HealthParticipantCA -“If the person is completely bald and no chance of regrowth, then “none” if possible”
The only time this is true is when they have Alopecia totalis.
Otherwise they go by the eyebrow color.
February 6, 2017 8:40 pm at 8:40 pm #1215238LightbriteParticipantAre white and gray separate colors?
February 6, 2017 10:14 pm at 10:14 pm #1215239JosephParticipantAre bald women different than bald men in this regard, that you asked specifically about men?
February 7, 2017 12:45 am at 12:45 am #1215240LightbriteParticipantNever considered bald women. I wonder how often it happens that a woman’s hair is completely lacking and permanently.
What about women who shave their heads and wear tichels?
Eyebrow color?
February 7, 2017 10:46 am at 10:46 am #1215241Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantWhat about a married woman who doesn’t shave her head but does cover it? How do they know what her hair color is?
And what about women who dye their hair? Or what happens if your hair turns grey after you get your license? Or gets darker and goes from dirty blond to light brown?
I never realized this question was so confusing!
At least eye color doesn’t usually change by the time you are old enough for a driver’s license. My eyes actually changed color – but I was around 5 or 6, so I was too young for a license yet.
February 7, 2017 10:48 am at 10:48 am #1215242Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“Are bald women different than bald men in this regard, that you asked specifically about men?”
It’s way more common for men to be bald than women. The only bald women I know are bald because they shave their hair.
February 7, 2017 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm #1215243LightbriteParticipant!!! I have to see if I have a pic of my old license. My hair used to be another color. I think they put the color if my dyed hair.
They at least know that people change hair colors. Like on TV even when someone is a fugitive they show composites of what the person would look like with various head (men and women) and facial (men) hair styles and colors. —May none of us never be fugitives.
